New Virus infecting Millions a day!

New Virus regarding downadup or conficker mess up your USB drives
on autorun and cause problems.

I cannot find a simple way to deal with this. Google searches results confuse
the hell out of me and involve many manual steps.

Anyone else dealing with this?

I've been trying to deal with it, but with no success. I can bring up some web pages, but not Google and a bunch of others that I've tried to open. It's driving me nuts.

Is it the one that has a popup for security constantly going up?
They were talking about it on Kim Kommando show yesterday.
Kommando.com (I think ) has links to help fix it..Also I think Microsoft has a patch on their website to fix it.

The patch only seems to block future problems, not the currrent infection.

I noticed that this weekend. The thing is once it routes you to the screen about spyware you just close out.
I ran spybot after the screen popped up and everything was fine

The name "Conficker" is a German pun, meaning "program that manipulates the configuration." "Configuration" is typically abbreviated "config." What ive done so far is:

1. Downloaded all updates from Microsoft.
2. Ran my AVG anti-virus.
3. Downloaded some program from

ftp://ftp.f-secure.com/anti-virus/tools/beta/f-downadup.zip
and ran it.


4. Scanned my USB drive with AVG and deleted the autorun.in and KEYGEN files that came up as viruses.

5. turned off Autorun on my computer by follwing these simple steps:

To effectively disable AutoRun in Microsoft Windows, import the following registry value:


REGEDIT4[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\IniFileMapping\Autorun.inf]
@="@SYS:DoesNotExist"

To import this value, perform the following steps:

Copy the text
Paste the text into Windows Notepad
Save the file as autorun.reg
Navigate to the file location
Double-click the file to import it into the Windows registry


I cannot use my USB thumb drive in any computers except my own. ( defeats
the purpose of having a USB drive but what can you do).

I think I had the photobucket virus on my old PC. It was so fucked up and my PC was on it's way out anyway so I got a laptop. It was the worst virus I ever dealt with and I was going crazy trying to figure out where I got it.
