codecs

so I got a copy of gran torino with great quality but media player says there was an error with the audio-codec. I can watch the film but there is no sound.

I updated divx but have not gone back to try the file again.

im not exactly sure what a codec is or does. but how do I get the right one for this file so I can watch the film?

I usually copy files to my thummbdrive and watch them on my ps3. what's a guy to do?

Down load the VLC player, it plays everything, and if there is a prob, it fixes it.

w+ll that only be good for viewing it on my pc? or will it fix the avi file itself?

Oh, yea, that will only fix it for watching it in PC

I accidentally downloaded a blu-ray a few weeks ago, and the only player I could find was VLC. It's a wonderful player.
