My dog snores. Is this normal or should I take him to see someone?

I can't tell if this is a serious question, or a dig at me for always telling everyone they need to "see someone" if their problem doesn't get better. :-)
Doggy snoring is a common problem, but usually doesn't cause doggy disease. More irritating to the owner than anything else. Breeds with smashed-in faces snore the worst, for the most part; my wife's Shih Tzu snores like a mofo at night. Sounds like a creaky rocking chair.
Apparently some dogs have allergies...if the dog's eyes are running or it sneezes, your vet can prescribe a little something-something that might help.
Crap, there I go again telling you to see someone. :-)

Actually, I found this question interesting. My cat Otis snores. It's really cute and he usually wakes up, stretches, and goes back to sleep. My vet said it's actually common and to only worry if he stops breathing (sleep apnea). I can here him breathing pretty well, considering he rests his chin on my head while we sleep. It's sometimes annoying but very cute.
PS-- I don't think I ever had a dog that DIDN'T snore. They mostly lived to be 15+ years old.

Yeah my beagle snores. We asked the vet about it and he pretty much told us the same thing said here. He's not really loud so its cute.

I have an English Bulldog. Notorious for snoring... And he does, it's not really too bad though. He doesn't have the bad pallet problems his breed usually suffers from. He's about as loud as a person though. I have an air purifier that I run at night that pretty much covers it up.

the shorter the muzzle the more the dog snores. So pugs, boston terriers and english bulldogs snore very loudly.
my dog has a big ol' beak so i don't even hear her snore

My dog snores, belches and is flatulent. It is fact that dogs take after their owners:wacko:
He is a boxer, a short nosed breed so snoring is expected.
Oh' he drools as well:wink:

Now what do I do if it talks in his sleep?

My Boston terrier has snored for most of his 9 years. He also burps and has horrible farts and is as healthy as can be.

I have a Black Lab/Golden Retriever mix. When he weighed 80 pounds you didn't know he was sleeping. Now he weighs about 105 and snores like a lumberjack. I think, just like us, weight gain has a lot to do with it.
