I have a question. Whenever I go from inside to extreme cold to shovel snow or just going out and be out for a little while, and I come back in I always have to pea really really bad. Like I cannot hold it. I go and pea for a good minute. No pain or anything like that but once I come in, I have to go bad. Is that normal or is their a plumbing problem?

Thanks

hmmmm...I can come up with a reason you'd have to void your bladder after coming in from the cold: when you're in the cold your body is struggling to keep warm...losing urine would be a net heat loss. So the "Sympathetic" nervous system kicks in (fight or flight) and you shunt computer cycles (basically) away from non-urgent systems to keep the brain, heart and lungs working. Once you come in, you warm up, the sympathetic nervous system relaxes, and that full bladder signals to the body and all of a sudden you have to piss.

this is all just conjecture on my part...I've never had anyone complain to me about this. Which makes me wonder: are you pissing ok otherwise? Does your bladder ever hesitate? Can you still "knock the bark off a tree" with your stream of piss? Do you ever start and stop? Do you wake up more than once to pee in the night? If the answer to any of these is "yes", you may have a plumbing problem after all. Your primary care provider or a urologist could dope this out in 5 minutes.

Hope this helps!

steve

Hello,
Thanks for getting back to me. No problems pissing. No hesitate, no start and stop, the only time I wake up to piss is in the morning, if I am sleeping for a while, it would wake me up and have to pee. Just once. I drink a good amount of water.

Thanks again and in honor of you I will not pick the Tennessee Titans in the NFL vote off.

Thanks again doc.
