For anyone who doesn't know, it means Additional Dialogue Recording, and basically it's dialogue that's recorded in a studio after filming has taken place for various reasons like micing was poor, lines were fucked when shots were good, etc.
Anyway, if you never notice it stop reading, cause you're in for a world of annoyance otherwise. I notice it every fucking time a character is talking and they are on screen but their mouths aren't. The head movements never match up to the speech patterns, the reaction times never work, it totally takes you out of the film/show.
I would list bad examples but it would go on forever, it literally happens every time I watch a show or movie.
Anyone have good examples they want to share?

I will say that there are times when I've noticed that something just doesn't sound right with the audio in a scene, but I wouldn't say it bothers me as much as it apparently does you.

Is it possible it only bothers you when it is done poorly ?

Is it really? I haven't seen it in like six years, I'll have to revisit that one. I hope I don't get douche chills, I have fond memories of it as an 18 year old.

mallrats had this really complicated beginning story that they cut and made it really simple. so the final scene they needed to change a lot of the dialogue in post because it referred to all these things that happened in the original cut. So you see alot of lips not matching the words coming out of their mouths.

Knowing too much about movies can hurt. Mallrats used to be one of my go-to movies till I watched every stupid bonus feature on the DVD.

oh yeah, in reference to looping, all I gots is:

"Workshed"
-Ash, Evil Dead 2

I never liked ADR. I always notice it too. Back when I worked in indie film I remember this one time we were filming in rockaway beach. With the airport being nearby we would constantly get plane noise during shots. It was a nightmare for the sound guy, he was stopping a lot of takes or calling them blown after cut, and the DP was getting really annoyed. So eventually the DP started saying to the sound guy "stop blowing takes, we'll just loop it". Man did that piss the sound guy off.

There is some really bad looping in O Brother Where Art Though in the John Goodman scenes.

Also in Summer Rental "Can I play with Yorkoo"

Come on. He thought Fez looked homeless that one time and told people. He apologized. I say let him be.
