View Full Version : An extra hour of Ron & Fez ?!?!
During the after show meeting that was broadcast on Paltalk and hearustalk.com (http://www.hearustalk.com/) , Ron said that they are trying to get the go ahead to start their show at 11am and still go to 3pm. He said the only sticking point is that the replay slot at midnight is only 3 hours and can't be expanded. (don't ask me why) They are afraid that if they edit the show for the replay, some fans who can only listen at midnight would complain.
If they were to broadcast a 4 hour live show from 11-3 and an edited version for the midnight to 3am replay, would you complain ?

It's like asking if people are for or against an extra hour of bonin' followed by sundaes every day.
Back in the day the boys always did 4 hours. I felt cheated when they came to XM and were only given 3 hours.
I'd welcome the extra hour with open arms.
i wouldn't like more ron & fez

How can anyone complain about more Ron and Fez. The whole replay things is a mess. They could still run 3 O&A shows and 2 Ron and Fez in 24 hours unless my math is wrong.

They could definitely edit the 4 hours down to 3 for the replay. Just get rid of the 60 minutes of music they play during every show.

An extra hour would be great! After OnA all they play is bad ads and random outtakes so why not start Ron and Fez an hour earlier? Hell, they've been doing a lot of extra radio on the post show meeting already.

Late in the after show it sounded like Ron was asking Dave if he brought the idea of a "bridge show" with Dave and Sam with the suits. It sounded like that was a nogo. Too bad. As to the question give me 11-3. Absolutely.

I would only like this once O&A are off of terrestrial radio. I'm a big fan of both shows, and for Ron and Fez to start at 11, means O&A HAVE to be done before 11, which I know for them they probly don't care about, but I wouldn't want it to cut into their rhythm of their show cause they do go past 11 quite a few days. They don't start the XM show until like 9:30 or so now anyway, so the XM "uncensored and crazy" O&A is cut to like an hour-hour and a half tops.
Why can't they go noon to 4? I think just having that leeway time in between both shows would be better. They should get this to be something official so they don't have this bullshit, 'we can't change the replay schedule' crap, O&A is replayed like 3x vs R&F's once, the single R&F replay shouldn't be a problem being the full show. O&A already have to cut down their show a lot to make it fit into the 3-6am slot, what's the difference between the 4-6am slot?

I don't like where this is going. Some of us have to work for a living (where they don't allow radio +/or streaming). So if I am a replay listner I would get shafted an hour? F that! How could you even hack an hour off and have any semblence of continuity. Like if it just went to dead air right in the middle of one of Fezzy's crying fits or during ESD screaming like a banshee. I would definitely like a longer R & F show but I'd like to see 12-4 so the O & A replay on my drive home isn't the same stuff I heard live on my drive in.
Also a good point already made that making 11 the hard stop time for O & A is only appealing if they stop doing a terrestrial show. They'll be cutting out by at least 10:45 every day so the studio can be reset and commercials get played, and with the O & A work ethic there would be days they only do like 45 minutes on XM.

How about an 11-12 AFRO hour? If O&A can't do it for some reason, they take off and R&F do the hour themselves.

O&A are frequently tired and drained, and ready to get the hell out after 5 hours of radio at 11am. Yes,indeed they do go over sometimes, but how will that work when the new shift to Sirius studios happens ? I assume they (both shows) are moving buildings to more cramped quarters. The burn-out factor of 5 hours of radio in the same space,no more walkover(15-20 mins break to regroup and refresh) seems like SCHOOL/PRISON when you have to fester in the same chair 5 straight hours. R&F fans have always wanted MORE R&F.....always.

I try to listen to the entire show, I record it daily, so it's not like I'd be missing out on the extra hour. I usually have to listen to the show at night, it's like a soap opera for me, I don't watch like any tv shows at all, this is the only thing I keep up to date with. So that's about 2 1/2 hour of my night, I'm multitasking of course playing a game or whatever, but another hour on that would just be my whole night.
I love the show, but I do think it's best at it's current time frame.

Who in their right minds would complain about more RaF? Ronny seems to really be loving doing radio these days and i would love for him to do more if he wants to do more.
I almost never listen live but thats my problem and if i really wanted to make sure i never miss anything theres Audible and "Other Means". God bless the Internet. and God bless Ron and Fez. And theres no real reason why they cant replay the entire show. If sirius keeps 202 @ only 2 shows it would be an easy fix. OnA are on enough as it is they can cut back one hour from ona's replay schedule.
Also its a good sign from the company if Sirius lets them do this. Also RaF should move to a post 5pm start time. Whos with me?

in the science fiction realm there are sometimes debates about whether certain events - or practically speaking, books, spin offs, movies, etc - are part of that universe's 'canon', or story proper.
last friday i listened to the aftershow for the first time (and listened today for the second time). wow, it was really cool. anyone who is a fan of talk radio knows that many different shows have had tiered listenership that could include access to a video stream, extra audio (including setup and tear down), or online replays. having now experienced this with ron & fez, i think siri is nuts not to be selling this - with some polish like online archives and better lighting / image. but i was really surprised by how open fez was about his sexual ... thing? ... on the aftershow meeting compared to on air.
it's like the 12 - 3 show is where the 'story' is told, and peaking behind the curtain - on that friday after show we also heard some great aj criticism, just like today was some uncomplimentary remarks about paulo (made in love, ok, but different in tone that what i've heard on air before) - does tinge that somewhat. i don't know where i'm going with this except to say it took away from the theatre a little bit. if the extra hour being presented wasn't included in the replays, i think it would make the continuity of the show obviously worse. it would be like, as previously said, they'd have to 'isolate' the first or last hour. wouldn't they have to take a hard break at the hour mark- so that the replays wouldn't be starting mid-sentence, plus isn't there time built in for sponsors that O & A may not have read during their show... plus what about the setup time between shows.
i'd love to hear more r & f but i think there is some more housecleaning to do with siri at large that might be affecting their schedule again before too long. i might be nuts, but i have the strange feeling that these after show bonus shows have been some kind of love letter from ron to the listeners, as though he is thanking us before an imminent change.

I would love R&F to be on at 11. The O&A worst of's are something I don't listen to for that hour before unless its a really good old bit. I usually listen to talk radio or fox news for that long hour. The show is just amazing and I do think Ronnie B is one of the top interviewers on radio or tv. Barbara Walters can suck it...I would like to see Mr. B do the before the Oscars interviews. Hopefully Sirius recognizes the talent on the show.

I'd be pissed, I can only listen at midnight and am afraid I'd miss something
If it didn't air in the first place, you'd still be missing it.

I'd love R&F to be on longer. How about 9 to 2 with a best of from 2 to 3.

Maybe I will just speak for the small minority that voted against the extra hour (if it will not be included in the replay): why is it so retarded that for those people who can't listen to the show live wouldn't want to miss out? why don't you try only listening to 2 hours of the show now and see if you enjoy it? i think it would suck to only hear 3/4 of a show and know that you are missing out on good stuff.
having said that, if they let R&F do it, i would expect that they would because it would benefit most of their listeners. so 90% of their listeners are happier, and the other 10% just have to deal with it or even stop listening because they don't get all of the jokes and stories anymore.
my 2 cents
