...and actually enjoyed myself. Jay Black, Gene Chandler, The Tokens, Shirley Reeves of the Shirelles, The Drifters, The Harptones, etc. I may have been the youngest person in the crowd on Mohegan Sun this past Sunday. The highlights for me were Jay Black doing "Cara Mia" and Gene Chandler doing a killer version of "I Only Have Eyes For You".

Not to sound like the Blowhard here, but there is something to this kind of music from years past that just makes you feel good inside. I am glad my father invited me, and I am glad that I went.

Edit: Title should have read Doo-Wop.

So who did put the bop in the bop-shoo-bop-shoo-bop? jk, i dont even think thats doo-wop.

I love going to shows with my Dad. He's gotten me into some really cool music over the years. But if I went to a doo-wop show and they didnt sing "Up on the Roof" Id start a riot.

The Drifters did perform this tune at the show. Another great one.

I LOVE doo wop. Blame my mother. She played it all the time when I was a little kid growing up. I still dig it in a big way.

"Sincerely" by The Moonglows and "Pretty Little Angel Eyes" by Curtis Lee are two of my favorite songs of all time, and there are dozens of other tunes from the early days of rock that mean a great deal to me.

I wish I knew about the show. I might've gone.

...They danced by the light of the moon
To The Penguins
The Moonglows
The Orioles
And The Five Satins
The deep forbidden music
They’d been longing for...

Oh, and Shirley Reeves still has her pipes too. The crowd was in awe of her performance of "Soldier Boy". Now I'm going to be downloading a bunch of stuff.

There is a Doo Wop show in the Bronx on the 24th put on by Richard Nader. The one I went to at Mohegan Sun was put on by Bowzer of Sha Na Na. Those 2 are the most well known promoters of these shows right now.
