View Full Version : Master Po has been let go.
Master Po, who was a part of the security of Opie & Anthony and Ron & Fez, was fired on Friday. Master Po has been on The Opie & Anthony Show since it's beginning on XM and has been a part of many famous segements, Karaoke, ultra straight man, martial arts segments, "USH!", "F" "H" Riley's, protecting during The Walk Over, theme to "The Karate Kid", "Damn, You just been powned!", getting Anthony's car, forcing people to sign in triplicate forms for getting in studio and "O&A Party ROCK!". This was due to the sad fact that Sirius XM will be closing the current the XM studios and moving both shows to the cramped Sirius Studios.
Good bye Master Po. USH!

I thought it was announced and I missed it, cause he said "as you may already know" in a message the other day...
I am sure he will do fine. Seems XM doesn't pay all that much, so maybe once he gets a job elsewhere that pays a bit more as well.

It's slowly turning into what seems like a nunery. And you know there will be tons of tighter rules at the Sirius building.
"Howard Stern does NOT like the smell of farts. You must walk outside to pass gas."
"Martha Stewart hates blacks. All blacks are prohibited from floors 10 through 13."
Crap.

QFT. Po's added nothing to the on-air product for the past 2 or 3 years. This is nowhere near Roland leaving, where he added content up until the day he left.

Hey, its a shame to learn of anyone losing their job in this recession. But it truly is a sign of things to come. Sirius needs to cut the fat, so to speak, just to keep afloat. Clearly, sirius' loyalty doesn't run to OnA, which, if u have listened to the last 2 months of the show, may very well be justified.
Good luck po!

It's not exactly raining money over there. In fact, the company is likely to go Chapter 11 and then reissue new stock to all the places they owe debt, or big douchebag Mel is going to take it private, if he can find financing for such a fool's errand.

I had a view of the whole thing and not once did anyone turn around and say shit to Bobo because there was nothing to say - Bobo got up very quietly when they asked for people to come up for questions, and he walked behind everyone - so, for anyone to say they saw Kenny man-handle Bobo and that he deserved it is complete bullshit.

Yes he was. It was discussed on the show many times.
The uke was not an issue at the live event at all.
I had no problem w/ Po when I stopped by the studio - I thought he was awful on the air, however; completely humorless and dull - the fawning love for him out of the O&A universe by some of the listeners I really never got, but maybe he really was a great guy at the parties and stuff. I don't know.
Who were the listeners who he took their IDs and then left the building for the night? I know one was the guy who called himself "Opera Boy" and the other was an old school Ron and Fez gal who I can't remember.

It was on the air on more than once about how Po was not one of the guys, and when something would happen behind the scenes, instead of dealing with it, he would contact hr.

whatever is said on air is a radio show.
Unless somebody in HR released confidential information that he in fact contacted HR I believe we can all just call it hearsay and will never know the truth.
He WAS NOT part of the show, he was a security person at the studio. They involved him in the show whenever they saw it fit and that's all. He was never a radio personality.
Anyway, I wish him best of luck for his future and am certain he will be just fine.

Does anyone know what Club Soda Kenny thought of Po as a martial arts "Master". Having been involved in martial arts for many years, listening to Po on-air and then checking one of his web sites out I had my doubts. At the time I checked his web site out there seemed to be an abundance of "Honorary" accolades as opposed to those actually earned through direct participation. I also know one of the Sensei's who were involved with the Marines' overhaul of their martial arts training after the first Gulf War along with subsequent tweaking of the program. Po was not one of those individuals, he may be training individuals who are Marines, but the person I know who was involved never heard of him at the corp level. I'm not implying he was not one tough cat just not as pedigreed as he lead folks to believe.
I often did enjoy his participation in both shows and wish him well going forward. It's a tough time to be looking for employment.

It was discussed on the air more than once and hinted at heavily. Obviously I don't know the whole deal (and why would knowing someone from HR mean shit? That's still hearsay technically), but it's blatantly obvious from what's been on the show that Po ratted Danny out and tried to get him in trouble. Whenever Po had his Arena SNV show was when this took place and they addressed it the following week.
THEY READ THE EMAIL HE WROTE TO HR ON THE AIR.
'Course it just might be a radio show bit, but Po "mysteriously" stopped being brought on the air afterwards. I could sit here and be Socratic and say "at least I know I don't know" but this is a goddamned messageboard. In the court of public opinion, Po's an asshole.
I still wish the asshole luck with his life.

I am not really sure I remember the danny story much, either way I think we all know that it's a radio show and the reality gets skewed a bit for the outrageous factor... and in addition to that it's Opie who mentions stories from the NYTimes when in reality he reads it on a place mat. When it's funny he may actually bring his mistake up on air but I am sure that more often than not things gone wrong never get mention again.
Fact is that just another person lost their job due to economy/ merger and regardless of the past on the show one can only wish good luck.
