I think that Broken Lizard makes some really funny shit. I remember seeing Super Troopers and dying. Beerfest was fantastic, and I even enjoyed Club Dredd (I know a lot of people hated it).
But those movies really don't have shit on Shaun of the Dead, alone. Shaun of the Dead may be the funniest movie of all time. Hot Fuzz, AMAZING again. Those three have something together that's incredible.
So who do ya got?

I don't know why these two. I'm sure there are a bunch of other comedy teams (Your ViewAskews, and your Apatow movies), but these two are always the first in my mind, so I always compare them.
There is a trailer for Slammin' Salmon online.
I'm not sure about it. It didn't look great.

i know Pegg/Frost/Wright is going to run away with this..and they deserve too, but i voted for "Broken Lizard" purely on "Beerfest". I dont even give that much of a shit about "Super Troopers" but "Beerfest" is a perfect comedy in my opinion. The first time i saw it i thought it was good, but i've watched it 30 times since then and it gets better and better. So, i think Frost/Pegg/Wright is more consistently funny with their stuff but Broken Lizard has the best overall film with "Beerfest"

So it is limited to just movies? No Upright Citizen's Brigade or anything?
Hmm. Well I'm gonna have to go the Pegg crew. More entertaining and clever movies so far. I like Broken Lizard but that one movie on the island sucked and beerfest had very limited funny moments.

I really like Super Troopers and Beerfest, but come on, these guys don't even sniff what the Brit trio have done.

Saw Shaun of the Dead, didn't really care for it.
I think people give them extra credit because they're British.

Broken Lizard based on Super Troopers. I liked Beerfest, but apparently not as much as most of you guys, but Club Dread and their first movie Puddle Cruiser are both pretty bad. Super Troopers is one of my favorites ever.
I still haven't gotten around to watching Shaun of the Dead. :flush:

I bet a lot of people think the same thing. I had friends that didn't like it. They watched it again and loved it.
It really is the perfect comedy, but some of it is really subtle.
I say give it a second watch.

Supertroopers and Sean of the Dead were both great comedies in my book. I do prefer Sopertroopers, but BL's follow-ups have been horrible monstrosities. Really disappointing. Hot Fuzz was hackneyed, but watchable. I'd have a bit more faith that PFW will make a more reliable franchise, I still hope that Lizard will eventually realize they can't coast and go back down to their frat house basement, get drunk for six months and come up with another brilliant low-budget guy comedy like Supertroopers one more time.

As for the question at hand, I loved Super Trooper, Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, but obviously wasn't into Beerfest nearly as much as many here. To me it's a classic average comedy that you stick on when doing work in front of the tv.
So as of right now, I really like both groups about the same. If I was going on average score the Brits would be the winner, but if judging on top film they'd be pretty damn close and it's hard to put Shaun/Fuzz up against STrooper due to style and content. It'd be like trying to pick between Cadddyshack and Army of Darkness.

What a fan-fucking-tastic thread!
I love love love both choices! However, this is based on comedy and Shaun of the Dead was far too tear-jerking for a comedy. The comedy in it is brilliant, but I don't watch comedies to be sad. Hot Fuzz is amazing, but SOTD is just too sad.
Super Troopers and Beerfest are two of my favorite movies ever.
But holy shit, this is missing Trey Parker / Matt Stone!
EDIT: Nevermind... TP/MS haven't really starred in anything except BASEketball so I don't know if they count.

Cannibal the musical and Orgazmo is enough for me to vote TP/MS over both of these groups

First of all, it's Sergeant.
Second of all, Holy Shit! Thats great news!!!
I liked Beerfest and Club Dread, but they really hit the nail on the head with Supertroopers.
I put off seeing it because I thought it was anti-cop, but once I saw it, I couldnt stop watching it! Saw it about 15 times now. Every character reminded me of someone I know at work! They were perfect in those roles, and although it PROBABLY wont be as good as the original, Supertroopers 2 is sure to be better than Run Fat Boy Run!
Now, who wants a mustache ride??!!

OK, Simon Pegg starred in Run Fat Boy Run, but it's not a product of his usual "crew."
Shit, if he gets weighted down by that, then the BL guys take the blame for Dukes of Hazzard.

Simon Pegg did some movie with David Schwimmer...it was on showtime and i just started watching it from the middle and it seemed like a really good movie. I have no idea what it was called but Pegg was an American in it and it was weird

If it's got Hank Azaria in it, that's Run, Fatboy, Run. It was OK, I guess, not great, but not horrible by any stretch.
I have never seen any of the Lizard movies, the commercials looked like they were all based around unbelievably stupid characters.

Problem with both sets of movies, they're virtually unwatchable after the first time you see them.
Shaun of the Dead especially, something about that guys just makes me hate the movies.
I also love Broken Lizard's films, so, they win.
