Let's be honest - seafood isn't all that great. In fact, if I never had another lobster, sea bass, or even shrimp in my life I wouldn't miss it. The only thing that makes that shit taste good is the condiments and dipping sauces.

ill have the occasional crab cake. Calamari I can only eat the rings, I can't eat anything that still looks like the entire animal. Fried shrimp as they're small. I once had scallops when I was like 8, and vomited everywhere, I think it ruined seafood for me for life.

In the center of town is a local restaurant there a little Greek woman dressed in black will make you stuffed calamari. It is not some fried crap but an an out of this world dish of freshly caught squid stuffed with delicious greens. It's off season so I bet you could get there cheap. Let us know how it went.

I agree 100% - Scallops and the very sight of them gross me out probably more than any other seafood. Even octopus while I had it once and was disgusted by it I would have say it more enjoyable to look at than the revolting images that scallops conjure up. In general I am not a seafood fan myself, but I do enjoy a good lobster, crab, or shrimp every now and then. I've always shied away from salmon until last year, while some places serve it with that awful fishyness to it, I've had a few meals where I didn't taste it at all and the fish was great. Aside from that, salmon nor any other fish I just find repugnant. I'd rather have a good steak or grilled chicken breast. Maybe throw a few shrimps on a skewer and BBQ it up and I'm in, but that's it!

Getting sick on seafood is the worst food poisoning I can imagine. Ever taste fish that's gone a little sour?

All that horror aside, I loves me some tuna, sushis, crabcakes, salmon and so on. And I'm shocked no one's mentioned swordfish steaks yet- try 'em on the grill sometime.

Oh and where you get your fish is a huge deal for quality. Jersey fish aren't exactly famous for good taste.

Then I must be King of the Homos cause I luvs me some seafoods. How can you argue with a properly prepared linguini wit clam sauce, or shrimp fra diavlo. A thick slab of pan blackened grouper, some deep fried boston scrod with malt vinegar or a simple poached mahi mahi with veggies are also favs. Some of you folks know I like smoked hog but seafood is soo much more healthy for you providing the omega-3s. It offsets any mercury argument.

I think one thing that pisses people off is the cost. I have eaten some overpriced, poorly prepared seafood dishes where it felt like a robbery when the check came.

I don't know, but our old goldfish used to poop, so I am assuming they have butts.

Cook them in a pan with a chopped shallot (or white onion if you prefer) in a lot of butter (like enough to go almost half way up the scallop.) Generously sprinkle grated ginger over the whole mess, and a little paprika if you like for color. Don't cook them too long, they easily overcook. Oh, and I should add, this recipe works very well with bay (small) scallops, but does the job for sea scallops, too.
