Between the two of them, who would you think would be more likely to live the longest if left stranded in the same environment the longest?

Bear would probably live longer but I like the show Survivorman better. Didnt it come out recently that Man vs Wild is bullshit? That Bear Grills sleeps in hotels at night or something?

Yes, it did. He admitted it after he was caught.
Les Stroud, on the other hand, is the real deal.

Bear Grills is a jerk off...what kind of name is that? I watched that schmuck piss on a tshirt and put it on his head...for what? The dude's got camera guys following him around, theres no way anything would happen to this guy. Les on the other hand is alone and does his own camera work.

Les is more of an outdoors man and Bear is more of an entertainer.

I agree, I think Les is more of a real survivor. I bet the women go for Bear though.

Les Stroud actually shoots his show solo, unlike that lying limey pantywaist.

Fuck Les Stroud. Every episode he finds a house, or has a store of food, or some bullshit. He works very hard to create an aura of peril that is so phony. Bear takes a lot of flack because he isn't out 24/7, but the show is about him demonstrating survival situations, it's not really relevant that he and his crew dont 'survive' for a week straight.
I think people are also fooled by Man v Wild being presented as a host driven show that is a little more stagey and campy. Bear is military trained and was the youngest person to ever climb Mt Everest, so even if his show is less gritty than Les Stroud his credentials are still pretty impressive.

Les Stroud! He carries his own equipment the whole time and is solo. Grylls has a crew with him at all times, plus he sleeps in hotels at night.

He does? I've seen many episodes and it always ends with his crew picking him up after being in the wilderness for xx days.
I have never seen him find a store or a house. You must be watching another show.

No, a store of food meaning he carries some quantity of food in with him, not an actual store and he shops there. And when I say 'house' I specifically was thinking of the dog sled episode where he stays in a fishing shack, and the amazon one where he acts like a jaguar is chasing him. Even when he is using modest and improvised shelter, it seems very staged to me. At the very least I'm sure they scout the location and plan his course to stumble upon the canoe he can turn into a crude shelter, etc. Les Stroud is also a survival demonstration show, its not a game show or a reality show, so I dont care how much he goes in with or how much is set up, but I do hate the attitude that his show is somehow more valid.

It's easier to watch Man vs. Wild because it's a multiple camera shoot, but Survivorman seems much more realistic.

Thats a great point. People forget that the point of that show is to show people how to survive not to say, watch me survive. Even if he sleeps in a hotel every night, which he obviously doesn't, he's still stud if you watch the stuff he does.
I'll give the nod to Bear just for pissing on his shirt and wrapping it around his face.

my only problem with survivorman is anyone can set up camp and wait to be rescued while making traps that never work. fake or not bear goes through the shit and teaches people how to get out, not wait to be rescued. that and les is canadian so fuck him.
next time i'll just read posts and simply agree.

Fuck Complainerman. God, all that fucking cunt does is complain about all the equipment he carries around and how many camera shots he has to set up.
THEN TAKE A CREW AND SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT IT. Seriously, next time you watch his show COUNT how many fucking times he brings up that he's out there by himself so he has to set up cameras and then go get them and pack them and blah blah blah.
Bear FOR THE WIN 1,000,000%.
Also, seems their TV station agrees to. Survivorman didn't get renewed.

He found an old cabin once during an episode where he was in some very cold, snowy climate. I do remember that.
Problem with most of his episodes is there's no feeling of closure or triumph over his adversity, whatever it may be that day. He just kinda gets picked up or the episode ends and you're not that impressed.
Bear always has an ending where he finds civilization in one form or another at the end of his show, so I feel like he accomplished something.
Oh, and he didn't complain about his fucking camera!

Bear ate something that made him take a nasty liquid shit while climbing a rock face next to a waterfall, and he kept going.
Les just always seems like he kinda doesn't want to be there. He complains about everything and mopes around during a large portion of the show. There's something about the body posture and attitude while talking to the camera that makes me dislike Les and love Bear.

every episode of man vs wild seem to be an exercise in how many times Bear can say " like" in the wilderness. its like he sounds like, like.... like a 14 year old girl from the 80's. like, you know?

Survivorman.
Anything he brings with him is meant to simulate an accident in that area, a bike wreck in the desert, losing his dog team, a kayack accident, etc. Thats the point of the show, and they make it clear. If you've seen the making of then you'd know he does spend time with locals learning their survival skills. So yeah, there's scouting going on, but they don't try to hide it.
Those cabins, Moe was talking about were placed there by the Forest Service, for emergencies or temporay shelter. He was clear about that. It was one of the tools availible to him for that area.
If Bear wants to stay in hotels and have his crew make his shit, that's fine, but don't try to conceal it. He does an entertainment show, and tries to pass it off as survival reality.
If you've ever spent time in the woods by yourself, then you'd understand that being on your own is completely different. Even if you had a camera crew that was forbidden from interacting with you, there'd still be a massive sense of security knowing someone else was there.
You spend a week in the wildereness completely alone with a pocket knife and a bicycle tire tube, and see if you don't get a little pissed when the cameras freeze up, it doesn't stop raining, or you can't find anything to eat except scorpians and a few berries.
