He supposedly brought a lawsuit againt XM for wrongful termination or something of the sort. Ron brought him up one day & said that he wasn't supposed to comment on the issue because (something to the effect of) "apparently Pitsy & his attorney don't think that losing a game of spinning the hits is a legal basis for termination."

The only thing about all this that irritates me is that Earl might be leaving because of corporate horse shit related to him trying to protect Fez's no talking bit. He stood up to Opie, Opie didn't like it, and next thing you know Danny is grappling with him. Who knows whether or not Earl was faking, but I'll tell you one thing: Earl sounded weird even before the incident. Very mumbly and quiet. For once he was trying to protect a bit.

If he did pass out, he's too stupid to be able to accurately describe the incident or defend himself. His retirement speech really convinced me that he's a thick-headed simpleton.

I just wish his forced retirement was more obviously related to his years of incompetence and lack of caring about producing a quality show and less about O&A flexing their muscle and getting rid of another R&F producer.

i agree with you. the events last friday were too messy and there was enough blame to share. i absolutely loved ron's show with that day, and the surprise outburst from fez, but looking back, it was not a balanced response. even if it was fabulously funny. earl didn't need to commit harakiri over it but maybe he felt there was too much baggage for him to continue. the other point i agree with is i think earl isn't very smart, and that's ok on a cosmic scale, maybe he is really kind, or generous, or patient outside of radio, but it must have been as awkward for him to be around very fast and some, very smart, individuals in a stressful atmosphere. awkward as much for earl as for those around him.
