In karate class I messed up a kick and kicked someone in the elbow. the top of my foot hit his elbow. I got an x-ray and nothing is broken. I had bruising and swelling in my foot but its all gone now. When I press the top of my foot where it hit I feel tingling and numbness in my toes. Wil this go away in time? When can I go back to class? My doctor basically said "Go back when you don't have anymore pain". What's that mean?

go back asap ... never a better time to train than when you're less than 100%. As long as it's just a bump and whatnot.
Torn things and sprains you should rest till you're ready.

35 year olds take martial arts.
that's funny though for some reason... though it at the same time makes little sense.

Snoogans tip on why karate class at 35 is gay. Let's go to production.
Nas - no. You're correct in that assumption. Inner city youth? Likes to rhyme things with an electronic beat?

More like one of the most influential rappers ever. Wrote a song about how Jay Z was taking a karate class cause he wants to touch kids basically
actually I should correct this. He wrote a song killin Jay Z. That was one of the many things he brought up

Jay Z I like. I found a Jay Z CD on the sidewalk in Asbury Park one day - I played it later and enjoyed the hell out of it.
But he owns a basketball team and is married to Beyonce I think - you'll take some heat for that.

This was way before all that. Nas is way better then Jay Z, IMO, though Im sure alot of people will disagree with me on that.
In general, Im not much a fan of Jay Z

Sounds as if you traumatized the nerve to that area of the foot; when you press on it, it hurts wherever the nerve actually goes.
Peripheral nerves can take 12-52 months to regenerate once they've been damaged. Don't you guys wear foot protectors in your class? we do:

these help a LOT.
You can probably go back to class safely; just don't kick anymore elbows. If you start having pain again, you may need to see your health care provider again. Sometimes a stress fracture won't show up on a standard XRAY...a bone scan will tell the tale.
Good luck with it! KI-YAH!

Thanks for the help. We wear foot protection during kickboxing but during regular class we do not.
