If you have money, which I'm pretty sure Jobs has, it's a lot easier to "maintain" HIV than it would be pancreatic cancer. HIV (not AIDS) is evolving into something that you live with but it's nowhere near the automatic 2-year death sentence it was back in the mid-80's.
Magic wasn't "losing weight" - his HIV was discovered during a team physical.

i don't care what the prognosis was or is
magic just manned up and said the hardest thing imaginable to the world
he could have said 'i got cancer' or whatever and exited left
but he came out and told the truth when it was much harder to say that
not saying jobs actually has aids
but if that is the reason for his aids-like appearance
then just man up and say
'i got aids and here is how i intend to make sure apple suceeds with or without me'
ps if youve lost 60 pounds, it is not just that you are carrying the hiv virus ...you got aids

I love Fark's headline for this story: "iLeave".
I would have gone for "Jobs to go into standby mode for 6 months", but that isn't nearly as good.

The pisser here is that Steve Jobs is a Buddhist/Vegetarian overly health conscious and he gets pancreatic cancer. Wozniak on the other hand is an animal. Grossly overweight a huge fan of Bog's Big Boy and he's healthy as a horse. Go figure.

My cousin has pancriatic cancer and is going through Chemo. He went from a pudgy guy to skin and bones in no time. This guys cancer has to be advanced to lose that much weight. My cousin did not lose the weight until it became advanced.

I was doing some reading and it seems pancreatic cancer is the mac-daddy of cancers. The survival rate is like 5%. Having had prostate cancer this really scares the shit out of me. It's like I can feel it growing....

Yeah, PC doesn't fuck around. It seems like it manifests iself so late or with little to no symptoms compared to other cancers.

My father had pancreatic cancer and died fairly quickly after the diagnosis. It is the fastest killing cancer you can have and there is liitle to no chance of survival.
There are two types of pancreatic cancer, easily detectible based on where the tumor resides on the pancreas (the first diagnosis). The pancreatic cancer Jobs had a few years back was the less lethan kind that is operable. The other kind is the killer one.
Now there are other theories as to what he has. Of couse having HIV is an option but that would just be a guess based on his appearance (which would resemble a person with AIDS). He also could have had a recurrance of pancreatic cancer (different type than before), or another theory is that he needs to now remove his pancreas (which is an occasional method of practice after having the pancreatic surgery). One surgeon in London (who has no direct knowledge of Jobs's condition) indicated that his opinion is that his pancreas is failing and needs to be removed.
The investors are really pissed because he has been so coy as to what is wrong. Since the executive shareholders are likley to know more of his condition than the public in general, the stock trade freeze was likely to prevent a mass exodus of stockholders in the company.

Fuck the investers, its his health and his buisness. He is not obligated to tell them shit. PC is a scary ass thing. Telling investers is very low on his mind. He did his job until he knew he could not anymore.

if handling investors is low on his mind then he is not much of a ceo
plus just last week he was out there telling the public he is aok
he has been telling different stories which is why his employees and investors are concerned
whatever the truth is, he should just get it out

My only question is, was he able to do his job right, while he was going through this. If he was, then he is ok. If he wasn't, then he was wrong.
