That was hilarious last night when the Tatiana girl was devestated when she got cut. What a freaking baby! Nobody that I remember on the show has ever acted like that. Grow up.

I haven't watched AI since season one but, I'm onboard with this season in a big way.

And man, is it good. There are at least 6 truly gifted singers this year. I'm looking forward to seeing the top 10 go head to head.




Having said all that, this season is pregnant with technical goofs, audio gaffes, awkward silences, and bizarre exchanges between all parties. This show is pure entertainment.

It's slick and glossy when all's going according to plan.
It's a high school production of Star Search when something goes wrong.

So an American Idol "insider" came out this week and said the whole thing was fixed and could even tell who the Final Four singers would be. I told my wife that absolutely one of those four would be voted off this week. And one of them was.

Well, they finally used their save. I bet if Lil had been the one kicked off they wouldn't have used it but when Matt is good, he is very entertaining. He's not consistent though.

I don't follow the show enough to know how that dude normally sings... but his "last chance" to make them consider being saved was just bad...
Seems with two chicks bickering and bitching over Simon they got their way...
yet Simon's original statement was right... the kid won't win anyway, so they really could have used it in a later point in the show to make it more exciting...

I knew there was a reason I never really got into these shows.

I'm sure the producers pressured them to use the save at some point during the season because they've been hyping it up so much. If they were going to use it, it would have to be this week or next week, because after then, it's apparently out of play. Otherwise, what's the point of using it? As Simon said, there's no way Matt will win.

There is a bit of maneuvering here on the producer's part.

The "judges save" can be used (only once) at any time UP UNTIL THE FINAL THREE ARE REMAINING. That's it. If they don't use the save before the finale, it's off the table.

(Also, the week after the save is used, TWO singers will be eliminated. Therefore, the overall timing and scheduling of the show is basically unaffected whether or not the save is used. The show will air for the same total number of weeks.)

Also... there was a wild card show a few weeks ago where the judges brought back somebody that technically didn't make the top 12. So.... there was a top 13 in the finals.

They used the wildcard save to bring back Anoop. So it would be highly highly unlikely that they would also use the new judges-save to prevent him from being eliminated. Not to mention... it'd make for just bad TV. (he's not all THAT great.)

So... the final three are the final three no matter what. Those three singers earn those spots by getting votes from the public. They deserve to be there and therefore, do not need saving. Also... they get record deals anyway so, they truly truly do not need to be saved.

The final three will most likely be Adam (Hot Topic kid), Gokey (the widower), and Alison (the redhead).
And you can subtract Anoop because they already saved him once.

That leaves Lil Rounds (the black chick), Kris (the little white kid), Matt G (the Timberlake with the nipple on his forehead).
We all know that Lil Rounds is a dead end.
That leaves Matt and Kris. So... if ya think about it.... the judges really only had to decide between Kris and Matt. They went with Matt. He's good. He's impressed them in previous episodes but, he had a shitty night on Tuesday. That's why he needed saving. He's better than that.
Will he WIN the show? Nope.
Is he good enough to continue for a while longer? Sure.



Basically what I'm saying is: the judges save doesn't really mean anything. It probably won't affect the winner in any way shape or form.

Yeah, Gwen was obviously singing live - she was in complete full view of the camera; you could not only see and hear every breath she took, but also see how difficult it is for a true performer to simultaneously run, dance, and jump around while singing.

As opposed to the horribly lip-synced fiasco by Paula Abdul that preceeded it. Between the long-distance camera shots, the dark lighting, and the smoke and fog effects, there was so much subterfuge going on to disguise her not singing live that I'm not even sure it was Paula Abdul.

Also found it interesting how Gwens voice has changed and matured in the decade plus since that song was first released. It's lower now, and lost some of that high-end chirpiness; or at least it came across that way in this performance.

The very first season, I liked the Kelly Clarkson song. Was it cheesy, yes, but it was a good cheesy pop ballad. I remember it was played on the radio alot. After that all the songs have SUCKED! After Adam Lambert’s killer performance with Queen on Wednesday night’s season finale of American Idol, rumors flew that he had already been offered a job singing with the band. That’s slightly premature, according to the band’s guitarist, Brian May. “Amongst all that furor, there wasn’t really a quiet moment to talk,” May tells Rolling Stone in an e-mail interview. “But [drummer Roger Taylor] and I are definitely hoping to have a meaningful conversation with him at some point. It’s not like we, as Queen, would rush into coalescing with another singer just like that. It isn’t that easy. But I’d certainly like to work with Adam. That is one amazing instrument he has there.”

May, whose band recently ended a four-year-long partnership with singer Paul Rodgers, is comfortable with Idol as a launching point for the careers of rock singers. “You’d have to define ‘legitimate’ first,” he writes. “The long-term answer has to be that, if you have enough talent and enough will to succeed, you will get there by whatever route presents itself. Once you have scaled the castle walls, with the sword in your hand, it matters little
how you got there. I’ve not always been positive about shows like this, but there is no doubt that it offers a door to some real genuine talent along the way.”

“Both those boys are well worthy of big success,” May continues, in regard to Lambert and Idol winner Kris Allen. “So it’s pointless for someone like me to stand on the sidelines jeering. I’m confident Adam will make great use of this wonderful opportunity. I hope I’m there to see it.”
