I don't know if anyone read the Sword of Truth saga, which started with Wizard's First Rule, but Sam Raimi is producing a syndicated series based on the saga. AICN has info on recent casting (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/36836)?

I liked most of the books, although I thought the saga as a whole dragged on too long. And I wasn't overly thrilled with the ending of the series. But I'll take a look at the show to see how it is.

I cant wait to see this one. I really wish they were going to make a movie out of , but beggars cant be choosers I guess.

I think it would make a great trilogy. Any other fans out there? Any thought on who could fill the other roles?

Eli,
Goodkind did seem to wrap up the sword of truth series a little to neatly. was it just me or did at times the books not seem to run together. I remember reading one book and going when did this happen? i checked the previous book and there was no mention of what happened. So, they want to make a series out of it. The question is where are they going to start? If they don't pick the right people for Richard, Kahlan & Zed, then the series won't make it. I'm not sure that there are enough of us that have read the books to keep the series alive, if they even end up making it. But lets keep our fingers crossed.

just checked out the casting, unless these 2 are really great up & coming actors. These 2 are completely off. Looking at them, I don't see either Richard or Kahlan.

They ran together, but there was one book ("Pillars of Creation") that started off with Richard's half sister and didn't feature Richard or anyone else we knew until the book was almost over.

Nope. Nothing.

Did you ever read the various Chronicles of Thomas Covenant the Unbeliever? There's 8 books out there now, with another two on the way.

Wizard's First Rule is now "Legends of the Seeker" (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/37635) and will be debuting on November 1, 2008.

I can't see the promo in the link attached. Will have to watch it when I get home tonight.

Elisnow,
what did you think of the trailer? Seemed ok, but I'm not sure. If the guy with the long white hair is suppose to be Zedd, they should have mae him a little older. I thought Richard got the Sword of Truth in Zedd's back yard not in a cave. There didn't appear to be enough room for Zedd to show Richard how the sword works (ie. won't attack someone that Richard feels is innocent. Who is the archer suppose to be? part of a quad? I'm going to have to check who the actors are. I really hope that they don't fuck this up. All in all, I really liked the series.

Craig Parker from Lord of the rings is playing Darken Rahl. I can't find a picture of him and the guy that is playing richard together, but my mind does not see how these two are suppose to look the same. Richard is suppose to look a lot like his father. So, let the dissecting and nit-picking begin. Oh, Kahlan's hair is not long enough. She is the Mother Confessor for goodness sake. :wallbash:

LOVED the books.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRACH

LLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOO

RIIIIIIIIIIIIICCCCCCCCHAAAAAAAAAAAR

It got way to draged out abd repetitive. And like you said ,ELI, The ending was very disappointing.

I saw an interview with Goodkind and he said he is not done with these charecters and he will write more books with them.

Very interested in seeing it on TV.

One of the things that I didn't like about the ending was how he went back on several things established earlier in the series.

One example: the Book of Counted Shadows. In the last book, he says the book Richard memorized was a forgery, yet I'm certain that in the first book, zedd thought that the book Richard memorized must have been authentic or Richard would have been killed if he was doing spells from a fake. There's a couple other examples too.

Just saw the show. I'm going to give it a chance, but they have already went too far off things that have been established in the book.

1. Richard didn't know Zed
2. Richard and Zed are not related.
3. Zed didn't create the boundry.
4. No hook cloud
5. Should Kahlan have been in her green traveling outfit instead of the confessors dress?
6. Richard wasn't tought how the sword works
7. Richard didn't react when he first killed someone with the sword.
8. Richard had not memorized the book of counted souls.
9. Chase's family was introduced a little early
10. Kahlan had the book of counted souls
11. Zed's sense of humor was not right
12 Richard's childhood was not right

did i miss anything else?:ohmy::sad::huh:

Wow, I only saw the 10 minute preview and noticed all the changes. I was excited that they were going to do a series and not chop the books into little pieces to fit them into 3 movies, but it looks like they're going to do a complete hatchet job on it anyway. Meh, maybe it'll still be good.

DOn't get me wrong. it wasn't bad, but it would have been so easy to just stick with the book.

I was too confused and annoyed with all the vast and unnecessary changes to even notice if it was any good or not. You're exactly right, it would not have been tough to just adapt the book.

When I started the the thread, the show didn't have a title. But since it was based on the sword of truth book saga, I went with that.

Silly ass sheepy.

So my opinion of Terry Goodkind just got lower. Here's a summary of his new book from Entertainment Weekly:

On his 27th birthday, Alex Rahl, waiting at a crosswalk, notices a truck flying a pirate's flag barreling straight at him and another pedestrian, an oddly dressed but striking blond woman. He quickly yanks her to safety. Jax, as she's called, turns out to be a human from another planet — one that's embroiled in civil war. And she's come to find Alex because, unbeknownst to him, he's got powers that can help her. Does our hunky hero think she's nuts? No, he thinks she's hot. He begins to take her more seriously, though, after his grandfather hands him a mysterious birthday present: a deed to thousands of acres of land in rural Maine, where, it slowly becomes apparent, there is a gateway — a sort of superhighway between his world and Jax's.

So a guy saves a striking woman, who has come from a war torn world, and he's got powers he doesn't know about, but then his grandfather gives him a gift that could help him and the woman fight the forces of evil.

Sounds familiar.

I like the show. Maybe I'm biased since I never read any of the novels. I stopped reading fantasy novels when I was a teenager though. No matter how good the first few books get, they fall apart the longer the series goes on. They either get repetitive and redundant or off-the-wall and too far away from what they started. I dunno, either way I caught the show after I left the TV on after a playoff game and it seemed interesting so I've been watching it on Netflix instant queue.
