We are in the middle of awards season and should only be catching up on potential Oscar contenders. But if you really need something to cleanse your pallete and don't want to go to see Paul Blart, Mall Cop or Hotel for Dogs, there is this bizarre entry from Warner Brothers. They've decided to give a wide release to Chandni Chowk to China. Perhaps they thought the time was right after the growing success of Slumdog Millionaire. Not that there should be any comparison between the two films.
Chandni Chowk to China is a slapstick Kung fu Bollywood epic singing dancing extravganza.
It's either the best movie ever mad or the worst. Well no, it's definately not the anywhere near the best. It is probably a good candidate for an Adam Sandler/Jackie Chan American remake.
It is probably best for fans of the wacky Kung Fu Hustle from a few years ago. It's not as good as that film but it has it's own "charms".
The real unique aspect to this is the conscious effort to cater to two Asian (India/China)audiences. I'm sure it has been very popular overseas already.
