I can't find the thread but I just made popcorn on the stove top for the first time since I was a child. I can't believe I've been eating this shit from the microwave. It takes like a minute to pop and is amazing. I've lived a horrible sheltered life. That salty goodness in my mouth, I kept grabbing more and more mouthfuls.

i've got one of those old-school air poppers that i use when i want popcorn. much cheaper, and real melted butter is way better than the 'butter flavor' that comes with microwave popcorn.

sprinkle on some cayenne pepper and you've got an outstanding snack!

The hot air poppers perform well, but you MUST get the butter evenly distributed, or you'll end up with all of the salt sitting in the bottom of the bowl.

I also use an old air popper, but my sister bought me one of these for Christmas a year ago and it works nicely as well, and it's dishwasher safe.

The popcorn made on the stove is 100x better then the microwave shit, and theres way less unpoped peices..

I don't know how there could be way less. I only get about 10 or fewer unpopped kernels with a quality microwave popcorn.

You lost me at cayenne pepper. What is it about you spicy food people where eating has to be a contest? Why can't you just settle in and eat something without having to prove your manhood?

I just got back from the movies (Gran Turino). Before the movie started I got a regular popcorn and large drink. I went down and put some salt and extra butter on that popcorn. When I went to sit down in the theatre I lost a grip on the popcorn. The whole top layer of buttery, salted popcorn spilled on the floor, creating a large greasy, slick mess. I was like, man, that's the best part.

I think the only time I have popcorn is when I'm at the movies. I don't know why I never pop it at home. Never thought to, I guess.

If I did I'd have to buy one of those jumbo boxes of Sno-Caps, though. That's the only way to eat popcorn. A handful of each.

I've never not had microwave popcorn
Oh and Gvac knows how to eat his popcorn.. sno caps and popcorn.. yuummmmm
I prefer to just mix the sno caps and popcorn together but the heat melts the chocolate.

Does popping popcorn at home qualify as cooking?

You may not know how to cook, but you sure know how to eat!

I make Microwave popcorn all the time! Not that prepackaged crap though...
Large paper bag..popcorn kernals enough to cover the bottom of the bag (takes some practice to figure out the right amount) fold paper bag and press the excess air out roll the opening down..microwave for 3 min.
pour into bowl, add butter, salt, hotsauce/wostecher sauce/chocolate syrup..whatever..enjoy
Plus, way cheaper than the boxed shit, and more servings..A good bag of unpopped popcorn runs around a dollar. the paper bag is free with groceries.

My stir fry pan, some olive oil, heart healthy butter, hot sauce, salt, and kernels = best popcorn ever.

I'm a whirley-pop man. A tablespoon of bacon grease and enough kernels to cover the bottom of the pot=the best corn ever.
