What's the haps Doc?
I have a quick question for you. I keep in pretty decent shape, I run a few miles almost every day. For the past few weeks around the 35 minute mark in my run my left foot begins to fall asleep. By the 40 minute mark it's like I'm running with one good foot (my right) and one cinder block (my left foot). It only goes away when I stop running. I've been in this current running routine for close to a year now and this problem has popped up only in the past few weeks. Any idea why I'm losing circulation in my left foot halfway through my runs now?

I don't think it's a circulatory problem, but more likely a problem with a compressed nerve. When you run, the tissues in the feet will swell imperceptably (sometimes PERceptably). The nerve to the foot goes through a thing called the "tarsal tunnel" in the ankle, and if you have some inflammed or overgrown tissue there so the nerve is nice and snug in there...just a little swelling will compress the nerve and cause your foot to go numb.

Make sure you're running with good form; slapping your feet to the pavement is cool for short runs (actually it's not, but your body can handle it for a short time), but not for the long haul. If that's not the problem, changing shoes may help. If it's a persistent problem, go see a podiatrist (foot doctor). They can help find a solution that will work for you.
Hope this helps!
keep me in the loop.

It sounds similar to Plantar Faciatis(sp) WHICH IS HORRIBLE. I pretty much can only where Jordans and other Nike basketball sneakers cause they are the only ones who support my feet enough that I can run around and make cuts without the bottoms of my feet feeling like they are on fire
