OK. So, im trying to change my PS3's resolution from 480i to 720p. I got my HDMI cable today. Hooked it up. Turned the on PS3. Went to display settings, sellected HDMI as my output. Screen went blank and then came back as it originaly was. I tried turning it off then back on. I even tried Turning it off, turning it on while holding the power button down for a couple of seconds. Nothing is working!! Bah.

With your new hdmi cable plugged in, hold the power button for a long time until you hear 2 beeps, that should reset your video and let you pick 720. that worked for me.

also plug in the cable, and plug in the old way you looked at it. Then go on the old resolution and tell it to use the HDMI cable. Then it uses it, thats how I had to do it

thanks for the help. I figured it out. when I selected HDMI cable, I was supposed to then change my tv to the HDMI-Input 1 channel with my remote. Everything is sharper, more finite. Graphics are sick in MLB The Show 08. the 09 version will be even better from the pics ive seen from it. Only game that still kinda looks the same is NBA Live.

oy vei. I might as well ask this too instead of creating another topic. But for anyone who uses wireless online connection, do you have trouble downloading software updates for games? I get to the DL screen and the thing always gets an error and stops DLing. Its so annoying. So, I cant play online unless I can get the software updates. Its like I have to be lucky to be able to do it sometimes.

it means you have your media server enabled. I forget exact where, but in the system or video options, there will be a thing that says enable media server or something, you have to disable that. You can always call Sony too.

Contact Consumer Services

Or send an email to Consumer Services

they will walk you through it

Wireless sucks on the PS3. I RMAed a damn fine Dlink router thinking that's where the problem was. I called Sony and Dlink and after using their recommended settings, I still get kicked and disconnected in on-line games, so I went back to dragging a cable across the room. You can disable your media center, and turn off the friends notifications, tweak the settings on your router to get a little better response, but still it's like the firmware can't handle basic multitasking.

80GB backwards compatible. Most of the disconnects happen in SOCOM, but in COD I also get more disconnects than usual. Plug in the cable, and I'm good to go. The playstation forums are full of people with wireless issues too, so obviously Sony fucked something up, but like any good company they won't admit that there is a problem.

I got my wireless router right before they updated the firmware to 1.5. Prior to that I didn't have any problems, but I hadn't had the router long enough to confirm that.

i know they did release an update that fucked up alot of things. Ive had some issues with the PS3 but nothing with the wireless connection. Just the laser. Still better then XBox
