Everytime I play a track through Windows Media Player on my work computer, very close to the end of the song it starts to "skip" and chop the song up. It kinda sounds like there's too much going on at the very end of the song and the computer slows up, but I don't see how this can be. Fairly new Dell with Vista Home Basic on it, Intel D 2.66 GHz and 3 GB or RAM. This should be more than enough to do what I'm doing with it. Not a lot of programs open, but it will do it with nothing else open.

Anyone else have this problem or know what I can do to stop this?

Just bumping this thread in case any tech heads missed it earlier. Doesn't happen on any other machine I have used, Vista or XP.

In other posts in this forum I found a solution:
* Click Start- Control Panel- Sound
* Right click on the Speaker/Headphones icon and choose properties
* Click on the "enhancements" tab
* Select the "Disable all enhancements" check box
* When finished, restart the PC

Try it.

I'll take this opportunity to remind everyone that if you're going to do the Windows 7 beta, the version of Media Player that ships with it has a bug that will cut off the first 10 seconds or so of MP3 files encoded at variable bit rates. And it's gone forever. Nothing you can do to fix it afterwards,

So run the updater before attempting to use it.

That was my original post, about Windows 7. He isn't using Windows 7.

Just thought I'd thank you Geno. Not exactly sure what was selected because I thought all those settings were off, but doing what you suggested seemed to do the trick. Now all songs play to the end with no clipping, pausing and overall gayness.

Thanks.
