i need some thermal lubricant for my PC (dell xps 200) to ease the stress on the fan

there was some blue-ish goop under the heatsink, but it has since disappeared

is there any difference between thermal compound, grease or paste ...? and does color matter (white vs. silver)

the radio shack across the street has two thermal compounds: one for $9.95 (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2295069) and one for $6.29 (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2216880) -- does one work better than another ...?

the stuff at radioshack is probably arctic silver, which is pretty much the standard thermal paste/compound/etc.
