Well, that's that, it's gone.

Pretty intense. That mag has been around forever.
Going to be sad, I guess I will have to keep my last issue in the bathroom for the next year, it was the last gaming mag I had to read in there.

That sucks Ziff Davis is really biting the dust. Sucked when GFW went under, they had the best writers ever.

EGM was the only gaming magazine worth reading. it's too bad.
They also bought 1up.com and fired 30 people - the magazine, podcast and a few other staffers are gone.

Damn. And we just started getting it delivered to the office. No more gamer reading at work for me.
ETA: Interesting to see that Hearst bought it up. My mom worked for them, and a few years back the company was trying to get out of the publishing business and into TV and movie production instead. Buying a long standing magazine title just to kill it is just nasty.

It's a shame. I used to get this, Game Informer, and Nintendo Power back in the day. I don't get them anymore, and really rely on user reviews at random sites, like MetaCritic (http://www.metacritic.com). No more Quarterman rumors either.........

Why did you rip EGM?

The user metacritic reviews used to be good, up until they got real childish and started downgrading scores because of the console fanboy wars.

You all horrify and disgust me.
Gaming machines... in the bathroom.
Magazines, I can understand. But having a game machine in a bathroom is basically ass-to-mouth.

No way Game Informer is going away, as long as Gamestop keeps posting those HUGE ass record gains.

Game Informer is good at previewing games. Their reviews blow.

That's because Game Informer is a freaking monopoly with gamestop backing it the way they do. I think EGM had way more personality then GI though.

EGM tried to be the American equivalent of a japanese gaming mag like Famitsu. Game Informer is a marketing tool by Gamestop/EB/etc.
GI won't go away because they pretty much give the damn thing away as a marketing tool, and is the highest subscription rate of any gaming magazine because of it.

Yeah, and I have trouble believing game reviews from a company that makes its money selling as many games as possible. It's sort of a conflict of interest.
But GI is a fun magazine to browse through while taking care of business.
