Do you guys have certain subjects that you would watch any movie about that subject, even if it sucks?

I'll watch anything about Vietnam. If its a Vietnam war movie, i'll check it out. In fact, almost any film that takes place in the 60s i'll watch

Also Drug Addiction. I love movies about drugs and addiction, any movie thats "Requiem of a Dream"-like or "Spun" i'll watch 'em all

I'm also a sucker for Music biopics. Even if i don't like the musician the movie is about, i'll check out their biopic. The only music biopic i really really hated was that Johnny Cash one, that was shit, but i've seen "La Bamba" 100 times

There are not too many of these out there, but I would love to see a movie from the early era of US Naval history. Following the exploits of John Paul Jones, Stephen Decatur, and so forth. A great movie project would be the battle between H.M.S Serapis and the Bonhomme Richard, or the battles with the middle east pasha's of Algeris and Tripoli.

Yet, that type of stuff is rare to see, and when something is done similar to that subject it is usually focused on the British or French Navies.

I agree 100%. I'll also throw in there the Blues. I've only seen two movies about the blues (there has to be many more documentaries/live performances). One was a great documentary called Deep Blues; it came out in the early 90s and focused on musicians such as Junior Kimbrough and R.L. Burnside. The other movie was Crossroads, with a classically trained blues-loving guitarist Ralph Macchio making a pilgramige down to the Mississippi Delta to really learn the blues. Shitty movie, but I'd watch it again. If nothing else, to see Steve Vai get out played by Ralph Macchio.

Vietnam, Korea, Civil War, and WWII movies are up there. Even though I'm not a baseball fan at all, I love baseball movies. Adult baseball movies, that is. Sorry. No "kid breaks his arm and suddenly can play pro ball" movies.

Edit: I was editing to add more wars, when I realized I like war movies in general.

I agree 100%. I'll also throw in there the Blues.

There's a whole string of movies "presented by Martin Scorsese" for PBS.
The series was just called The Blues - I saw two of the seven films "Godfathers and Sons" - which was great because Chuck D was in there talking about the impact that Electric Mud had on him as a kid. And there's great footage of Koko Taylor tearing the singing roof off a blues joint.
Also, saw "Warming By the Devils Fire" - about the rift between church gospel and the devil spawn that is the wailing blues. Hopkins, Dixon, Son House,Sonny Boy, Muddy, Mississippi John Hurt and many more are showcased in there.

As for "You See Me Laughing" - without that film I would never have known Asie Payton. Good stuff.

i'm obessed with scf-fii survial horror. The nightmares I would get as a youth never shook me as I watch thefirst three Alien movies. After that, if it has a battle for survivial on a derlict space craft, then I'lm obligated. Even Horizon and Dead Space stand out as high profile in a gengre almost exclusivey low budget....

Any movie about The Clash.

Any movie based loosely on the 1987 Washington Redskins scab team, unfortunately.

The original Angels in the Outfield (from 1951) was a very sweet movie. It also had Janet Leigh in it, which made it really interesting for me, considering the only other film I've ever seen her in was Psycho.

Now that you mention it, I remember the Blues series Scorcese did for PBS, but I did not see it. "Warming By the Devil Fire" sounds fascinating. Thanks for the tips. I've gotta catch up on these.

1) Time Travel

2) Sports

3) Post-Apocalyptic

4) If the lead is a "Tweener" - not exactly good, not exactly bad. See: Snake Plissken, Mel Gibson in "Payback", etc.

And although I really, really, REALLY hate zombie movies, especially "contagious" zombies, I want to see "Dead Snow".

Not time-travelling zombies per se, but if you google the movie, you'll see what I mean.
