I was thinking today about The Thin Red Line, and how much I really disliked it when it first came out. I thought at the time that it was long, drawn out and boring.

As of today, I haven't seen the movie in almost 10 years, and i'm a VASTLY different person now than when I had seen the movie for the first time. So I'm thinking I want to see it again to gain an entirely new perspective on it.

Are there any movies like that where you maybe saw them so long ago and felt a certain way (that it was good or bad for example) that you think you think you might feel another way by seeing it now due to new perspectives on life or various experiences you've had?

HAAAAAAAAAAATED The Thin Red Line. I don't think I could bring myself to try to rewatch it.

I might give The Fountain a second chance. Mostly because I found myself drifting off the first time.

Have you passed through this night?
Thin red line is the source material for one of my favorite songs.

I hated westerns as a kid, love em now.....

Please do. I think it was a really worthwhile film.

I'd like to give Knife in the Water a second chance. I thought it was the most boring movie I'd ever seen in my life. Maybe I was just tired?

Heat is mine. I watched it so long ago that I hardly remember much of the movie. Not that I hated it or anything I remember liking it, but it's a distant memory and ancient history for me at this point.

I should give A History of Violence another shot. I didn't think it was a bad movie but it came nowhere close to living up to the hype.

Cabin Boy

of course you must give it another try - it's THE best film about a cabin boy ... EVER!

i need to give Memento another shot - the first time i just couldnt handle all flashbacks and i felt confused. i also wasnt paying attention to the film half way through, probably from looking and posting here.

Unbreakable
I didn't like it at the time but based on his recent work, it may have been his best movie.

I almost watched that last night because I was thinking the same thing. Did M. Night actually make one good movie?

I did watch it again and was let down in a whole new way. Speliberg and Lucas should have allowed the movie to grow up with the audience that watched the first ones and created a darker version of that disaster.

Sunshine. At the first viewing I was so disgusted with the third act of the movie, I pitched the DVD, I think it's still under my couch somewhere. The first half of the movie I thought was so brilliant, I think I'll take another look.

Sunshine.

I think you're looking for the "worst film of all-time" thread...

I agree, that 3rd act was astonishingly bad.

A Clockwork Orange

I first watched it with a coupla friends when I was a HS junior, so like 18 years ago. We hated it, didn't get it, weren't entertained, and turned it off half way through.

I'm pretty sure we just weren't ready for that kind of film yet. I do plan on watching it again one of these days.

(I had a similar experience w/ the Lord of the Rings books. Someone gave them to me when I was like 10, but I thought they were too long and wordy, and I never finished the first one. When I went back to them when I was older, I absolutely loved them.)

Alien. I tried watching it a few years ago and fell asleep about 30 minutes in. It wasn't even bad, I was just tired. But for some reason I haven't been able to bring myself to put it back on and I own the Quadrilogy DVD set.

A semi-related thing I'm dealing with is The Godfather trilogy. I've owned the set for probably close to two years now and I'm actually afraid to watch it because I'm worried that I'm going to hate it and just reaffirm what a child I really am. :wallbash:

When I went back to them when I was older, I absolutely loved them.)I'm a big fantasy nerd and The Fellowship of the Ring is still by far the most boring thing I've ever read, and the next two aren't a whole hell of a lot better. That series is the only thing I'll probably ever say that the movies are better than the books.

I might give The Fountain a second chance. Mostly because I found myself drifting off the first time.

Check out the Graphic Novel Darren Aronosky thinking the movie was never going to be made decided to just do it all out in a graphic novel the artiist is kent williams and it still doesnt make much sense but is alot more beautiful

im not sure what movie now i would give a second chance
i think mostly with comedies
i see them once and go ehh theres some funny

then when i see them again i see little things and pick up on lines that have me rolling
