I rewatched a bit of Hook tonight, a film I haven't seen in a few years, and I have to say, considering Spielberg directed it and the material it's based on and I thought the premise was actually pretty cool, it may be one of the top worst movies ever made.

Now, this thread is not for movies that are so bad they're good, it's just movies that are so bad they're bad.

"The Terminal" by far is the worst movie ever made. I have so many examples and proof that i can't get into it right now (and i've gone into it so many times in the past) but basically every aspect of that film isn't only bad but offensive to a thinking person

I've never made it through. Though I do sometimes have it on with the volume down just to see the hot lesbian action.

What was the name of that Tara Reid movie where she plays a scientist? I've been wanting to see that based on Ron's reviews.

Manos, Hands of Fate

Anyone who has seen this has no other movie that they could possibly bring up.

but "Manos" crosses the threshold of being bad but amusing..and since most people know about it from being one of the greatest MST3K episodes its hard to hate it

If you want to go with, what would technically be the worst movie, if it wasn't for ironic detatchment, it would be a movie called "Longshot"

Longshot is a movie made by that fat old pedophile who puts together all the boy bands. Basically, he put a bunch of young teens singing "boy band music" and shirtless men in a plot that makes no sense with a bunch of pointless celebrity cameos (Britney Spears, Nsync, Kenny Rogers, Gilbert Gotfriend, The Rock). As far as a film being devoid of all talent or intelligence or wit or narrative and of just being a pointless exercise in selling a product to kids THIS is the worst movie

however, its not my worst movie cuz ive seen it 6 times. Its so bad that its hilarious to me and im fascinated by the pure badness of it. So it almost comes around the other end

i really really really wanted to walk out of "Jack" with Robin Williams as the man-boy and "Batman & Robin". Those were my biggest urge. Oddly enough, my worse movie of all time "The Terminal" was a movie i snuck into but i didnt walk out of it cuz i was seeing it for free

I saw Crash -- the good Cronenberg movie, not that piece of overdramatic horseshit -- again for the first time after I'd had a very serious car accident a couple of years back. It really resonated with me in really new ways.

I mean, I'm not going to help reenact James Dean's car wreck, but I get it better.

I do not recommend getting T-boned by a driver with no license running a red light, which sends you flying head first into a light pole in order to enjoy it more, however.

thats kinda cool that someone else thinks "The Grinch" is the worst. The thing about that movie is that it RAPED a beloved childhood classic and you will be hardpress to find an uglier looking movie. The Whos were made with this makeup to make them look like hideous dog people. What also offended me about "The Grinch" was the fact that it cost $90millions to make. Think of all the good you can do in the world with that much money

With "Date Movie", i saw that and then I saw "Epic Movie" and "Epic Movie" is even worse. But i was reading about those movies and i never saw "Disaster Movie", but in "Disaster Movie" they didnt even see the movies, it was made to be relevant towards the summer movie movies so they based there parodies on only the commercials, so im thinking that one could be the worst one

I had the sad misfortune of seeing Bladerunner for the first time about a year ago. It was the teacher's idea at the end of the semester. Maybe if I saw it in the theaters way back when it still looked futuristic? It was the only movie I ever got up and walked out of over and over again. Maybe it doesn't quite qualify as garbage, but it was the worst movie experience I had gone through in quite a while.

Ha! add it to the list. I didn't mean for them all to be black films. I started off with Eddie Murphy then thought of those godawful martin lawrence movies and threw in the Wayan brothers. the common denominator was the fat suit or white suit, not the blackness. there are tons of great black comedies out there Richard Pryor is one of the funniest stand up comedians of all time.

Balls of fury - terrible

Balls of Fury isn't terrible, it's a concept that was hard to flush out. It's a Kung Fu movie that anytime they would say kung fu, they instead said ping pong. It's more of a Parody then any of the "Movie" movies. It killed me to find out that Tom Lennon and Robert Ben Garant from Reno 911 were involved. Then when I went to IMDB and found out that they also worked on Herbie Fully Loaded and Lets Go To Prison.

With "the State" alumni they seemed to break up into 2 groups, "the stella" people and the "reno 911" people. "The Stella" people, specifically David Wain, are doing some of the most innovative, ground-breaking and brilliant comedy out there. "the Reno 911" people, specifically Thomas Lennon and Ben Garant, are doing some of the most embarrassing, pandering, unwatchable shitty movies out there (they also did that movie with Queen Latifah and Jimmy Fallon that i can't remember the name of, but also should be one of the worst movies ever made). I heard "Balls of Fury" was more of them doing what they want to do instead of being "writers for hire" like with Herbie, so i went into it with high hopes and it was just terrible. And once again, that main guy was terrible in it

That Jimmy Fallon movie was Taxi, which I didn't see. And let me say, I was watching all of the "Movie" movies to do research for something I was working on with a friend, and watched Balls of Fury with the lowest possible expectations, and they were exceeded. So again, after watching Meet the Spartans, Balls of Fury was fucking Godfather II.

But Thomas Lennon gave us Viva Variety, so he is beyond reproach...

Wasn't Taxi a remake of a French Film? That one was watchable.

"Taxi" should be in the running for worst film, cuz first, the criminals are "supermodel jewel thiefs". that alone means it can't be good

but if you watch Queen Latifah and Jimmy Fallon together, i never saw such non existence chemistry between two actors. It is definitley the go-to film for "no chemistry between leads". At the end i was like "wait are they suppose to be friends now? i dont get it"

A sequel that I saw and wanted to gouge my fucking eyes out:

Sting II. Horrendous sequel to a classic. Something happened there in the 80's where classic actors got caught up in some shitty roles. Cant believe Jackie Gleason signed on for this filmed abortion.

Last year my ex and I saw the re-make of Prom Night. I was making up excuses to go to the bathroom and went and got a beer at the bar in the mall.

"Out cold"...only movie I ever walked out of and asked for my money back. They gave me a coupon for another movie. Horrendous.

It is a bad movie...but I love it too. Something hilarious about clowns hired for kids parties getting hammered and driving around looking to beat the shit out of mimes. Sad part about this movie, this was a high point for Julie Brown.

Speaking of horrible movies with Jackie Gleason in them, I saw Skidoo over the weekend. No question it is horrible and easily one of the worst movies ever made but it could be in the Ed Wood so bad it is good category. Jackie Gleason's acid trip in prison is easily one of the most bizarre things I have ever seen.

(1) Evening ... the story was too jumpy to work as a film and the script was so weird that even the all-star cast couldn't save it. I even watched it twice to see if maybe, just maybe it was because I'd missed the first 15 minutes the first time I watched it. It wasn't.

(2) Even though GAZ is disqualifying direct-to-video releases, I really have to submit ALL of the Olsen twins' "height of popularity", I want to gouge out my eyes videos that my sister Catherine made us rent over...and over...and over...and over....and over again. And then would wander away from ... only to scream at the top of her lungs if she returned to the room and the video was either over or stopped (and replaced by something more acceptable, like a horror movie or 'Mortal Kombat' for the Genesis) subsequently getting the other 3 of us in trouble because she screamed so loudly.

And anybody who said [I]Suburban Commando really needs to think about the definition of "bad" ... I won't defend it as a good film ('cause it isn't) but it's so bad it's laughable. The same with UHF. (Both are among my favorite films to watch when I don't feel like doing anything.)

(3) Pearl Harbor ... not even Kate Beckinsale in red lipstick and a cute bathing suit could save it.

(4) Eyes Wide Shut (seconded an earlier vote, although it wasn't the nude Nicole Kidman that drew me to the film ... it was all the hype about it being Stanley Kubrick's final completed film and, while I don't always enjoy Kubrick's more "artsy" films, I do admire his vision of the stories he tells. This was just bad.)

And I HATED Titanic, but it's got a couple of redeeming qualities, mostly to do with the special effects. But, seriously, this movie made my butt go so numb that, if I'd driven myself to the theater, I would've walked out just to get some feeling back into my butt-cheeks. So, while I HATED this movie, I can't call it 100% bad. Just mostly bad.

I also HATED 2001: A Space Odyssey when I saw it for a class I took about modern narrative forms and the impact technology has on the way we tell/think about telling stories. It's a good film to explore that premise, but I don't know if I agree with its being hailed as a great film. Again, my butt went numb watching it, which led me to hypothesize that the movie must be better if you're high. (After college, I tested this hypothesis. And, after smoking up, I concluded it's brilliant if you're high because I passed out right after the apes smash all the bones, so I missed the middle when all the pretentious shit happens, but I woke up with the munchies in time to see Dave and HAL.)
