Well now that Bruce Wayne is dead we are waiting to see who will be the next Dark Knight. Even though Batman is my second favorite hero, I don't care that much that he's dead. The thing that will bug me is the inevitable return of Bruce Wayne. I just hate when characters get killed and then resurrected, just makes the whole death meaningless. But despite all that I hope Dick Grayson is the next Caped Crusader, even though it would suck having no Nightwing.

Actually I went to wikipedia to read up about the Hush and the Holladay story line and it sounded pretty good. I'm not a big MEGA Batman fan but we DC peeps got to stick together. Heck if sinestro can come back from the dead, why not Bruce Wayne....I mean Batman (forgot about his secret identity). How do they explain both disappearances?

So how do they explain Bruce Wayne and Batman missing in action? No one makes the connection? Or is Alfred driving the Batmobile with the cowl like in the 60's Batman show.

It just happened like two weeks ago. There hasn't been time to examine all that yet.

isn't that the whole point of "Battle for the Cowl", someone else will be Batman, and only Bruce Wayne will be dead.

Batman isn't dead - not yet anyway. It looked like he was blown up but it was just a ruse. He was captured by minions of Darkseid and they tried to use Batman to imprint a clone army that would serve Darkseid. It didn't work though - he turned the tables, destroyed the clones, and escaped.
Batman/Bruce Wayne's "final fate" is supposed to be determined in Final Crisis #6 where he is supposedly set to go up against Darkseid (or something like that). He may or may not die, but the mantle of Batman is set to change hands afterwards.

the article didn't really mention anyone else who could be in the running for the Batman gig;
aren't Robin and Damian too young to take the job?

Then you read it wrong. Like all Jeph Loeb, it started well, went on too long and had an awful ending. The Jim Lee art was pretty, though.
who else could be batman besides nightwing?
Rich Johnson wrote last summer. Dick is Batman, Jason Todd is Red Robin.

Anyone reading the previous two issues of Batman knows that Bruce Wayne did not die in the helicopter crash. Per other posts, he was captured by Darkseid's minions in Final Crisis #1. We'll find out his final fate in Final Crisis.

I dropped out of Batman during RIP because I didn't understand it. Was it in RIP that he died? I'm getting confused.

He may yet, in Final Crisis. But as of now, he's still alive.
It looked like he died in RIP, but later issues showed he didn't.

Why? There's only been one Nightwing, and it's not like he's always been the hero for the same town.
I don't think it's a mantle that others need to pick up.
Besides, there's the Kandor Nightwing appearing in the Superman books, that apparently will be around for awhile.

Is is lame or was it an intended parallel to provide a hint that Batman didn't die in the crash? After all, the Joker didn't die in the helicopter crash in Death in the Family.

third issue came out today. i thought it was a great issue especially with the fight between dick and jason. looking forward to the next issue in the batman series. im a little apprehensive about the detective books following batwoman, but it's written by greg rucka, so ill give it a chance. there are going to be a lot of bat related books coming out this summer.

I thought the whole series, and the final issue in particular, was a disjointed mess. I still don't know what was supposed to be behind curtain #3. Tim's body? Did NW and JT both jump/fall off the train and onto the bridge? How high was the bridge that it was a threat to JT's life to fall off? No way to shoot a line down and catch him?
I'm OK with the outcome but not the story leading up to it.
sweet granty m diint even want the lead in, he just wanted to go straight from rip/fc into the new books and tell what happened in between along the way. you know, writing.
