If you buy a second dish, can you split up DirecTV boxes between two locations that are relatively close to each other?

And, if you buy a third dish, can you split up direcTV boxes between three locations that are about 2000 miles apart, the only restriction I can think of is losing the spot beam for the local channels.

I don't know how it works down there but when we had our camper we had a portable sat. dish and a receiver in the camper. We were able to get our regular programming all the way to Nova Scotia and also when we were in Maine. The only issue I remember is that the times on the menu were Central time, so everything was off by a couple of hours. And like you said the local programming was for our area not the area we were in.

you don't need another dish you would need a new switch to add new receivers.

it would have to be a more expensive AC amplified one if you're running the coax cable very far.

There's no point doing it yourself as Direct TV would have to upgrade your TV package to add new receivers and cards. The installer would then come by and install the dish, cables,& receivers.
