What can I give my son that will stop diarrhea?

I know there is nothing over the counter that i can go with. He is only 2 years.

But its so bad that he is more than likely spending the rest of the night in the tub.

There's nothing I know of, and our 9 month old just went through it. He may have a stomach virus. If so, he'll have to ride it out. Just keep him hydrated.

White rice works.

My daughter is going through it now too. Its from the medication she is on. She is pissed because "all i do is poop, i don't have time to play."

PediaLite, or the equivalent. Keep him hydrated and warm.
A warm bath with lavender will calm him down. (There may be a bit of soup in the tub. Be warned.)
Some steamed rice will also help to tighten things up.

Unfortunately, there is very little to give young kids with diarrhea. Most medications are too powerful for infants and in most cases you want them to get the virus causing the issue to get out of their system as fast as possible - although it sucks, the diarrhea is speeding that process along.

The best thing to do is to keep them really well hydrated using something like Pedialyte, Ricelyte, Rehydralyte, or any other children's ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution). Even Gatorade will do in an absolute pinch, although the ORS's designed for kids are better. If he is still using formula, try temporarily moving to a lactose-free type because lactose can make diarrhea worse.

Sorry to you both, but hang in there.

if he is on an antibiotic and continues to have diarrhea you should call the doc and switch it. Some stronger ones like omnicef really get them bad.

Keeping him hydrated like tub said is important.

some of these tips may be used on young kids
