Anyone else hot sauce junkies? I put hot sauce on EVERYTHING. When i cook, everything is going to have a ton of hot sauce

i go to this place in Fairfield, Oh called "Jungle Jims" that has thousands of hot sauces to go through. They even have a bottle they sell for $2000 (its behind glass)!

so here are my current hot sauce and spice products

First is "Salsa Stoopid", if you went to Foundrymusic Jeff's july 4th, i bought this and it kicked everyones ass. Tonight i had one tostito scoop filled and i chugged a beer and a half (and a few plain tortillas) just to kill the hot sauce. Its fucking awesome

http://www.americanspice.com/images/data/size/enlarged/50787-salsa-stoopid.jpg

This isn't a spicy hot sauce, but i bought it for the funny label and im addicted. They use mango for flavoring and its great.

http://www.sweatnspice.com/prodimages/Camel_Toe.jpg

This bottle i bought cuz it reminded me of Eastside Dave (notice the curly red hair ropes on the top). I put it on my hot dog and it was a really solid spicy taste. I liked it

http://www.sweatnspice.com/prodimages/Matteos_Red_Headed_Step_Hot_Sauce.jpg

i have a few hot sauce bottles i havent tried yet...i'll post about them when i try them. Hopefully there are other hot sauce junkies to keep this thread alive!

or sometimes Anchor Bar Hot Wing Sauce, depending on what the occasion calls for

i had some of that stuff at this "noodles & company" franchise they have in the midwest. it was good but i wasnt the biggest fan of the asian-y aftertaste (i dont eat chinese food cuz i dont like asian-y flavors)

Frank's Ret Hot is garbage.

i totally agree. i don't get the appeal of "Franks". Tabasco actually isn't that bad, but i prefer trying new kinds i never tried before, but in a grocery store pinch, Tabasco is way better than Franks.

Great flavor in Frank's (perfect for "crowd pleaser" wings), but it's made with cayenne peppers and there really isn't much of a heat factor at all.

It seems to me that hot sauces are a lot like wines, a lot goes into naming and label design to draw attention to it, and in the end you have to be a real "connoisseur" (or snob) to know the difference between what is good and what isn't.

Or maybe it's a matter of personal opinion.

Lately, I've been a big fan of Tabasco's Chipotle pepper sauce on pretty much anything.

I add it to ketchup for fries, eat it instead of ketchup on eggs and it makes one HECK of a Bloody Maria because it adds just the right kind of flavor to bring out the tequila.

True, it's not the hottest sauce out there, but why screw with what works?

(BTW, I use Frank's Red Hot in recipes where heat's not a factor, but color is ... like in the Good Eats stovetop macaroni & cheese recipe that I now know by heart.)

EXACTLY! I get called a pussy for not using the Fire sauce unless I am out of HOT sauce. It is purely because the flavoring of the Hot sauce is so much better.

http://www.bbq-grill-smokers.com/22chlg.jpgBravo Sir! Your taste buds are on par with that of Mesopotamian Gods. Cholula is such a great treat. I use it on everything as well.
Franks hot sauce is my favorite hot sauce when it comes to making traditional hot wings. But for a treat try this:

One bottle Cholula
1/4 cup honey
1/3 cup orange juice
1/3 cup V8 juice
1/4 cup Wild Turkey Whiskey
2 tablespoons finely chopped garlic
Some Lawry's Seasoning Salt
Little bit of Celery Salt

Bring to boil, adjust seasoning and thicken with a cornstarch slurry if needed.

Has far as heat goes in hot sauce categories. I like the Dave's Insanity Sauce. It burns like a son of a bitch. I love that.

I saw that on Food Network a couple of times. He actually buys pure capsaicin for the sauce. You have to handle it as if you're handling uranium.

Oh and I just thought of another sauce I like. While it's not exactly "hot sauce" per se, it's a hot sauce... Joe's Real BBQ (http://joesrealbbq.com/index.php) "I Dare You" Habanero BBQ Sauce. Smoky, sweet, with that little habanero kick on the front of your tongue with more heat on the way down...on ribs or pulled pork, it's awesome. Unfortunately for many of you, you have to go to Gilbert, AZ to taste it.

Pure Cap..500,000 Scoville units! This sauce is hotter than hot! You must be a responsible adult to use this food additive.Add five drops of pure cap to your favorite chili or stew and then hold on to your seat. Vegetable Oil and Capsaisin. 2 oz.

I grabbed a slice of pizza, and my boss said, "It's hot. Be careful." I should have known better, because he NEVER warns people about stuff. Quite the prankster, he is. Holy shit!!! You're not supposed to use more than 5 drops in a pot of chili. He mixed some in enough pizza sauce for a 12" pie. I asked how much he used, and he said, "I don't know. A LOT."

That's the shit they blend for Dave's Insanity sauce.

It's also related to what they put into canisters for pepper spray. No joke.

I hope you had plenty of milk on hand to rinse it out of your mouth, PapaBear, because if you didn't, you could get seriously injured. (Capsaicin isn't water soluble; it's fat soluble, so the fat particles in the milk attract the capsaicin oils and if you swish your mouth with milk, it'll help clear up the heat without spreading the stuff around.)

Either you like to add it into your favorite pasta sauce...put it on your wings...or just add a couple of drops to your mac and cheese...Hot sauce is a great way to Angry-up your meal.

In NC this past weekend I stopped by one of my favorite shops to pick up some interesting sauces.

First.
Virginia Gentleman. Bourbon Chipotle Hot Sauce. The bottle is in the shape of a flask...which is reason enough to try it out!
http://richstillwell.com/RF/hsvg.jpg

Next.
Tequila Sunrise. It's got Tequila in it! Need I say more?
http://richstillwell.com/RF/hsts.jpg

Thirdly.
Rasta Fire! Dis Stuff Hot Mon! I had to give this one a try.
http://richstillwell.com/RF/hsrf.jpg

Lastly.
Cackalacky Hot Sauce. Looks a like a local favorite...I'm on it!

Why would I do that. It would be killing the fun.

In NC this past weekend I stopped by one of my favorite shops to pick up some interesting sauces.

First.
Virginia Gentleman. Bourbon Chipotle Hot Sauce. The bottle is in the shape of a flask...which is reason enough to try it out!
http://richstillwell.com/RF/hsvg.jpg

Next.
Tequila Sunrise. It's got Tequila in it! Need I say more?
http://richstillwell.com/RF/hsts.jpg

Thirdly.
Rasta Fire! Dis Stuff Hot Mon! I had to give this one a try.
http://richstillwell.com/RF/hsrf.jpg

Lastly.
Cackalacky Hot Sauce. Looks a like a local favorite...I'm on it!

Get off the cross, we need the wood.

What a fucking martyr.

It's OK, Hottub!

You're great!

We love you!

You're a great mod!

We know how hard you work!

Is that better?

Christ.

Merging duplicate threads? GOOD!!!
Locking funny spoof threads that would take the heat off a potentially troublesome thread? BAD!!!

i ordered these babies a couple weeks ago and forgot to put them in this thread. 2 of them are made with the bhut jalokia peppers. also known as the hottest peppers on earth.

Zakk Wylde's Original Hot Sauce
This mild sauce is recommended for wings, seafood, chili, Bloody Marys, jambalaya and anything that goes with beer.

Ingredients: Red Habaneros, Vinegar, Cayenne Chilis, Chipotle, Fresh Garlic, Key Lime Juice, Cilantro, Fresh Herbs and Spices.

Zakk Wylde's Sonic Brew Hot Sauce
Moderately hot, this sauce is recommended with fish tacos, fajitas, eggs, salmon, chicken or anything that goes with beer.

Ingredients: Fresh jalapeño chilies, vinegar, tomatillos, fresh garlic, key lime juice, shallots, olive oil, sea salt, cilantro, tequila, cane sugar, onions, spices.

Zakk Wylde's Stronger Than Death Hot Sauce
Aptly named, this sauce brings the heat to wings, meatloaf, seafood, chili, cheesburgers, sushi, and of course anything that goes with beer.

Ingredients: Red and orange habaneros, vinegar, jolokia chilis, fresh cayenne, smashed garlic, chipotle, pepper extract, key lime juice, cilantro, fresh herbs and spices.

Zakk Wylde's Shot to Hell Hot Sauce
The hottest sauce in Zakk's line, this one separates the men from the boys. Be warned, it contains ingredients 600 times hotter than a jalapeño chili. Use sparingly. Not recommended for use without dilution.

Ingredients: Red habanero pods, cayenne chilies, vinegar, pure pepper resin, soybean oil, jolokia chili pods, clover honey, key lime juice, bird's eye chili peppers, spices.

i love using fresh jalepenos. i also like using anaheim and poblano peppers too.

i also love hot sauce. franks is usually the go to sauce in my fridge but i change it up depending on what im making. my brother got me a bottle of hot sauce from belize that rules, i think it is called marie's. also a fan of tapatio.

i don't really like regular tabasco, i think it has a weird flavor, but i love the green tabasco.

i realized that i need at least 3 different hot sauces at all time. I need a Lousiana/cajun type hot sauce, i need a chipotle hot sauce and i need a habanero hot sauce. Then maybe a few other novelty ones when i want something different

i ran out of Cajun hot sauce yesterday..gotta go to Jungle Jims this weekend

yeah, because a lot of the jalapenos that people are familiar with, the kind that are on nachos and shit like that, are all pickled jalapenos in the "pickled goods" department

but good try

All the discussion about pickled jalapenos has me thinking that I'd better check the Rick's Picks (http://rickspicksnyc.com/order.php) website to see if they've got any more Smokra (spicy pickled okra made with chiles and smoked paprika) because I finished the jar I bought in December. It's a damn shame I didn't have anything to marinate because the brine would've made some yummy fajita steak or chicken.

Since that was so good, I think I'll be opening the jar of Mean Beans (spicy pickled green beans) sometime soon.

And I need to get more tortilla chips because we have this wonderful habanero salsa we bought at an outdoor market in AZ called Gage the Heat (http://www.gagetheheat.com/index2.html) ... we still haven't opened it, although we'd planned on it at the Super Bowl if we had a party. (Hey, that might be a good excuse!)

Lastly, although it's more sweet than anything else, we picked up this great peach-jalapeno jam from Carolyn's Classics (http://carolynsclassics.com/) that would be awesome on poultry or fish ... I used it on some turkey burgers last month and it was good. The sweet-tart flavor of the peaches were a perfect compliment to the mild heat of the jalapenos ... yummy-yummy.

Just found my favorite new use for Frank's.

We got dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets for my son. They come like 500 to a package from BJ's.

So I'll dump about 20 on a plate and microwave them and then dump Frank's on top. So frickin good w/ some Coke on ice.
