If Tiger had a later start time on Thursday, he wins right?
tough to say that difinitvely obviously. Especially since he missed alot of putts. But he woulda had a much easier time of it and much more receptive greens, yes

I would say yes, but it is speculation. He could have won it without his falling apart on the last four holes of the first round.

Of course its speculative. I think that will be the question making the rounds on the sports talk shows later.

If and when the quetion is posed to Tiger, he'll probably say that it's part of the game and that he thinks he could have still won it with the draw if he had made some easy putts and did better on the last four holes of the first round.

Is it me or is Mickelson on a horrible stretch of luck here? I might start to feel bad for him...

Ha. Ha. Ha. What a horrible mistake you've made young man.
Tiger Woods is a fine golf player who strokes the ball quite well. However I didn't miss a cut at the British Open until I was 45 years old. Of course that's probably why I hold the all-time record of 18 major championships and Tiger does not.

They do that for every major, it's called marketing.
I love all the idiots that say "I'll take Tiger versus the Field" any time a major rolls around. Odds are he's only going to win one a year which means you lose 75% of the time.

Tiger Woods doesn't make the cut, and 59 year old Tom Watson is leading the Open after 54 holes. Unbelievable.
Yet fun. It would be awesome if Watson won, especially since he would then be tied for most British Open wins at 6.
KnoxHarrington
07-19-2009, 06:25 AM
Holy shit, it's Sunday, and Tom Watson is tied for the lead.
Especially after that idiot who was leading just threw up a nice quadruple bogey.
23 golfers are within 4 shots, and given the fact that the wind today means that any hole could conceivably turn into an 8 or 9, this is going to be wild.

Are PGA golf pros athletes ? I think not.
What other sport can the winner of the most important event smoke a pack of cigarettes DURING the competition ?( Angel Cabrera ) US Open 2007
A 59 year old man just about wins the British Open (Tom Watson )
A fair number of great players are rotund and probably drink too much
I would classify them as Sportsmen

And every sport has the one fatass who looks like he's not in as good a shape as you are who's still great at it. I mean, there was Kirby Puckett in baseball, Charles Barkley in basketball, and most offensive linemen in the NFL.
I mean, just about anyone I've ever heard comment on this says that soccer players are probably in the best physical shape of any athlete in any sport, and that sport sucks.

See, I thought maybe that too, but I don't think the mics would have picked it up quite so clearly if it was in the gallery, and I don't think Tiger would laugh about that -- he and his caddy would probably be pissed. So I think it's one of them.

We may finally have an answer to the mystery: it apparently wasn't Tiger Woods that farted, it was CBS golf announcer David Faherty, who was following Tiger.
It makes sense: he'd have a microphone much closer to him than Tiger would, and it also explains why Tiger didn't get too pissed like he might have if it was just some douche in the gallery with a whoopie cushion or the iPhone app on his iPhone.
I'd add in my scientific study of the fart, I notice that Tiger's voice, once you hear it, is very low volume. So unless the fart was a glass-breaking monster, it wouldn't have been that loud. I think the networks are really careful to not get mics too close to Tiger to avoid airing one of his occasional F-bomb barrages, and it does sound like they were keeping their distance.

3 hole agg finish if it goes to extras. Id be down for some free golf - but I think if it gets that far tiger would take it.

(Chinese philosophy) the two fundamental principles, one negative, dark, passive, cold, wet, and feminine (yin) and the other (yang) positive, bright, active, dry, hot and masculine. The interactions and balance of these forces in people and nature influence their behavior and fate.
looks like tiger is the yin to y.e.'s yang

Excellent tee shots for both on 18
Tiger has got to some something special in the next two shots
Jack Nicklaus
08-16-2009, 02:55 PM
Yeah, it's not like he won more Majors at a younger age than Nicklaus did.
Oh wait, he did.
Young man, the last time I checked 18 was greater than 14. Oh wait, it still is.
I've got 18 major championship victories, a record topped by no other man.

Made it to every day of play this week. Here's my pictures from Tuesday's practice round. Even got Yang's autograph. Nice little rare piece of memorabilia for my new basement.

Also, everyone who associates Minnesota with cold should be lucky enough to enjoy how goddamned hot it was being out there for 10 hours a day. Great experience though. Right up there with my best sports moments.
Again...the Tuesday pics....

I had an amazing time at Hazeltine yesterday. I have to admit that everybody having their little American Express earpieces in their ears was annoying, but made the tournament more enjoyable knowing what was going on at all times.
Cant believe I witnessed Tiger collapse at a major.

I loved that little earpiece thing. And I figured out tonight that though the PGA XM feed no longer works, it also doubles as an Fm radio, which should make it useful for other sporting events.

Looks like Phil is playing really well right now in the WGC. So much so that some online journalists are talking about him being better than Tiger in 2010.
