I am wondering if cell phones could be attached by a virus. Could you go down load a ring tone and get a virus or some other kind of malware?
I have a Blackberry Bold and was looking for a certain ringtone that I saw for free online, but it seemed like a foreign website and was worried because it looked Russian.

Absolutely. I'd never download ANYTHING from an untrusted 3rd party. Cell Phone viruses can wipe your contacts clean or reset your phone, causing you to lose everything you've installed or upgraded.
You can also get cell viruses from bluetooth transfers.

yeah they exist
But the latest and most sophisticated crop are what's called "pranking for profit." This can involve things like redirecting your calls to a different carrier in a different country, racking up a hefty phone bill. Or sending an MMS message to everyone in your contact directory, leaving you with enormous extra charges. Or "vishing," when you'll get a voice call that asks for information, faking it by posing as a legitimate business. A downloaded application may send information about your phone account to hackers. Snoopware (which is spyware on steroids) might capture your keypad clicks.

It's worth searching through the apple app store for it, but because a lot of apps on the phone (the legal ones anyway) have been quality checked, viruses should be pretty rare.
