Here's why. The way you defined those threads was that they are chat rooms, where you can talk about anything, regardless of the title of the thread, so the title of the thread is meaningless. Then you created something like 15 variations of of more or less the exact same thread with slight variations in the title. If you wanted to start a thread discussing Ford Escorts, you could. If you wanted to start a thread discussing smoking, you could. Instead, you started multiple versions of the same thread to prove a point.

I've explained a lot. I've done nothing but explain. You're not the only one who feels like no one is paying attention. Do I really need to go through this all again?

Board Characters would be fine if they were used in moderation. This isn't the first time we've instituted the board characters in board characters threads. It happens times like now when people get out of control. Eventually people won't try so hard to kill the funny with their severe lack of originality and pollute otherwise substantive threads. The board character use will wane a bit, and we'll relax the rule and people will start using them sparingly again. It's retarded that we have to implement it at all, but sometimes a little restraint is necessary to make this board a bit more readable. What we would like to say is use good judgment in the use of board characters, but we'll be accused of not having clear rules.

As for banned characters -- I declare amnesty. All board characters banned in the last couple of days are free. One of the other mods will have to do the unbanning, because my admin panel is all fucked up from the time that Mojo banned me.

As for not merging all of the "bomb shelter" threads -- I made it clear a long time ago that the FBA thread was okay. It was pretty different from the board culture here and was reflective of the board culture of FBA. In the beginning, it was a way to help the FBA refugees get aclimated, but it has become something more. It's a way for the FBA folks to connect like they used to. I understand that you disagree with this. Many other people enjoy that thread, and many additional people have no problem with it's existence. It's a bit of an abberation on the ronfez.net landscape (although there are threads on our board that turn into that kind of thread a bit from time to time), but as far as I'm concerned, and for most of the people on this site, it doesn't need to go anywhere.

B. In a nutshell, yes. Changes need to be made from time to time, be it adding mods or asking ones to step down who aren't pulling their weight or are out of step with the rules of the site, but it hasn't happened that frequently. Term limits seems like a nightmare, if only because it would be a pain to come up with a full slate of people to become mods every year. Not to mention the growing pains of a new staff because you're lacking non-admin veterans. Also, I like our current crew. We may be adding 1 or 2 mods in the new year.
