So my wife goes through a case of this stuff a month. Any meal, she eats it. I thought it was just college food, until my wife made it for me. I had no idea you could customize Ramen!
Tonight I made chicken flavored ramen with tons of red pepper flakes, cayenne pepper, paprika, and the greatest hot sauce of all, Coqui Fire Papaya Lime Sauce. My face hurts right now, it was so damn hot.
Is ramen still an integral part of your diet, and if so, what's your recipe?
Also, I went to a friend's house one night and he was very much into Mexican food, yet didn't have a single hot sauce in his fridge. No Tabasco, no Frank's. It was crazy. How can someone have zero hot sauces in their fridge? We collect hot sauces. I probably have 30 in my fridge right now. What are your favorites?

While boiling the noodles crack a few eggs and put some crab meat in it.

I love ramen! One thing I do is cook two packages. I drain all of the water out, and mix in a little butter and about half to 2/3's of one flavor packet. If you use it full strength, it's just too much. Sometimes I cook it the regular way, and throw in some shrimp, crab, or even the occasional chunks of fried spam. And I HATE when people crumble up the noodles before they cook them! I like to spin a bunch of the long noodles around a fork to eat it.
About the college thing... I knew a girl who had just moved into her first college apartment. The electricity was on, but she hadn't had the gas turned on for the stove yet. She cooked perfect ramen in her Mr. Coffee.

My wife makes Alton Brown's Ramen Shrimp Pouch (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/ramen-shrimp-pouch-recipe/index.html) recipe sometimes. It's pretty fuckin' good.

BTW... Why don't they make spicy ramen anymore? There used to be a few varieties like chicken picante, but I haven't seen them in years. When I was in jail, (one of the times) the Mexicans used to buy the picante ramen from the canteen. They'd throw away the noodles and use the flavor packets on their jail food.

Well first you have to fashion the burner with tin foil and a few books of matches splayed out like a sun flower. Woodstick matches work better because they burn slower.

The only places we ever find the spicy ramen is in really shitty supermarkets.

If you have an Asian market near you I suggest you check it out they have plenty of varieties of spicy ramen noodles. If you have a big grocery store that has foods of the world aisles also they probably have it also. For example, by me on Long Island and over by Amy in Edison there are a handful of Asian markets that have them. Then there are stores like Wegman's and on Long Island Fairway that have International foods which include ramen noodles specifically spicy ramen.

We have a total of two grocery chains here. Food Lion and Martins (Giant up north). We have no Asian markets, but you can't swing a wet ramen noodle without hitting a Latin market.

This is my favorite type of Ramen, just excellent.
With the regular store bought ramen, I will add some chunked chicken, loads of hot sauce, put some shredded sharp cheddar in and nuke for 2-3 minutes. Let it sit for 4-5 minutes and eat.

The best type of Ramen has got to be Texas Beef. Add some hot sauce, some crumbled crackers and salsa, and you have a bowlfull of awesomeness.

I also am a big fan of breaking some eggs into the noodles. You gotta break 'em but don't scramble 'em.
Hot sauce rules!

Another way to jizz up Ramen is to splash a lil bit of rice vinegar and garlic chili sauce (Tuong Ot Toi) in as a condiment. Think of a wonton dipping sauce made from chili, soy sauce, and rice vinegar if you think I's crazy.

I have an entire kitchen cabinet dedicated to hot sauce, but I tend to use sriracha on everything. As for Ramen, I really haven't eaten it since college.

Sirircha is the shitznet, man I will eat that on just about everything. Whether it is just crackers, dorittos, when I make stir fry, hamburgers, etc. Yum.
