I remember being a kid and a Waterbed was a huge thing. We were always like "How cool would it be to have a waterbed!" it was like, the epitome of royalty
i heard the phrase today and i was thinking, i probably haven't seen a waterbed in 15 years. What happened to them? They were once considered sooooooooo cool!

why did you put waterbeds in quotes?

If you are renting, a lot of places will not let you have water beds due to leaking and weight issues (mainly leaks). I'm sure it's more of a big deal in apartments than rented houses, though.
They are still around, but harder to find - mainly special order and online.

why did you put waterbeds in quotes?
so you wouldn't confuse it with "waterheads"?

I had a waterbed up until two years ago. It was a soft sided waterbed, so it looked exactly like a real mattress. And the two sides of the bed could have different amounts of water and heat. It was an awesome bed.

That's my exact story.......bout 10 years ago we had one too.... it was this shit.
My repeated line is, "Warm in the Winter! Cooool in the Summer...AND... only takes one time to get used to bangin in one...."
People usually walk away fast wen I tell my waterbed stories..... Fools! I got shit to say bout waterbeds!
Freal, I want one again... It might be closest to womb naps.

My parents bought me a king size water bed for my 14th birthday and I had till I got divorced from my first wife when I was 28. I let the fucking bitch keep it 'cause I didn't want to fight over it.
I still miss it.
My wife and I are apparently the dinosaurs of this board. We have a waterbed. It fits in a wooden frame, and has baffles inside so there are very few waves.
It is the most comfortable bed I have ever had and we wouldn't think of getting rid of it.
No velvet posters or pet rocks, but if I look through the closet, I can probably dig up my old Lava-lamp.

My wife and have two lava lamps that sit on top of our entertainment center and we turn them on almost every evening.
God I feel old and out-dated.

The "Blog" of "Unnecessary" Quotation Marks (http://quotation-marks.blogspot.com/)
My mom got me a waterbed when I was like twelve. It was strange now that I think about it.
It always used to get holes in it. Then the water would smell cause I never took care of it.

Is it the smell of rotting bait that does it? (Gets me everytime.)

Is that what she told you everytime you pissed the bed? "Oh honey! Looks like the waterbed sprung another smelly shamefilled leak."

Maybe that's why she bought me the "waterbed" in the first place.

oh man a womb nap. that's got to be the best sleep ever.
i think waterbeds have been replaced by tempurpedic. i had one & now it's in my guest room cause my boyfriend hates it. but sleeping on a tempurpedic was like sleeping on a cloud to me. i miss it. i nap in there sometimes.
