I will have a slice/roll, but Im not there to eat bread. I enjoy my entree like a gentleman and I'm not one of those cheap fucks that take home the leftover bread. Good topic GAZ.

I just bake my own.
But at fine restaurant establishments, as long as it's good and not too hard, and they got some olive oil you can use as a dip, I'm wolfing that loaf down.
Anyone ever try that garlic/olive oil dip at Bertucci's? That chain makes nothing else well and their bread is actually pretty lousy, but that dip is the best.

Why would a homeless man ignore a basket of bread?

you are ignoring the bread as if it was a homeless person... not the other way around

Ahhhhh! Now it makes perfect sense.
If it's hot and fresh, it's irresistible. Don't even try to give me reheated stale bread you cocksuckers. I'll throw it at the waiter's head and piss on the floor.

Big Ed's ( all u can eat rib joint in Joisey) gives you the perfect sized garlic rolls
they do it purposely to fill ya up\
The bread has to be fresh and heated, see Gvac's post , bread gives you something to eat before eating more food

Absolutely.
Now it's incorporated into the meal (the whole soup, salad, bread kind of deals).
I'm not bitching. Bread is fantastic.

Trust me. As a Chef, Gvac is 100% CORRECT. Save the old bread for bread crumbs or stuffing of some sorts. And the fucking butter better be Plugra Salted. I just might shit on a plate and face fuck the bus boy if it isn't.

i cant vote on the poll because it really depends on the place/bread. I mean shitty bread and I'll ignore it, good bread I'll probably eat.

I was kinda hoping this was a thread about where you store your bread. Oh well, i don't really care for bread as an appetizer. I prefer just the salad.

Fine dining establishments really should be presenting bread choices and serving bread, not throwing a basket of bread on the table.

I'm going to sound like an old lady, but I only have a few slices because otherwise I get full before the meal even gets out to me. (read that in a hilarious old lady voice)

I nibble. Fresh bread is great, but I'm paying for apps and an entree and I intend on finishing them.

depends on the bread if it's fresh.
On another point, serving breadsticks with pizza like at pizzahut. WTF???

That never made any sense to me either. Why don't they just offer crust free pizza and charge you seven bucks for "cheezy crusts" or some such nonsense?

Depends on the bread and how hungry I am. If its that garlic bread that Gaz was talking about (which I just had last week) and Im slightly hungry Ill eat them all, ask for more, and eat it while still finishing my entree....and an appetizer.
Ok I eat like a horse, what can I say?

I pass on the bread. Its just filler. I want to be able to eat my meal. Not take it home after 3 bites.

Yes, yes I am.
"Homemade bread" is a euphemism, right?
