koreans. and they dont even try to hide it. the korean lady that owns the liquor store across the street from my office (whos children i have put through college) is completely unrepentant about it. she always says to me "stay here for minute, i dont like these blacks, they steal!" whenever im talking to her and a black person comes in. she also lectured me for an hour the day before the election cuz i said i was voting for obama. it was crazy. i ended up telling her i changed my mind and was voting for mccain so she would shut up.

I put down Korean but I would also put mainland Chinese. I deal with a lot of Chinese people who are either studying here or recently moved to America. They have no problem saying they don't like black people. I had a friend whose wife is from Beijing. They were planning on staying with us here in Ft. Greene. When they drove past Fulton Mall and she saw all of the black people in our neighborhood, she ordered her husband to find an expensive Manhattan hotel. She couldn't even deal with spending a couple of nights with black people in the neighborhood. My wife refused to meet her and it turned in to a big fight. The Beijing wife seriously didn't understand why my wife and I were so pissed at her. She thought it was completely acceptable to say she hates black people and refuses to be anywhere near them.
I lived in mainland China for a couple of years and I saw worse treatment toward the African students. Of course there might be mainland Chinese who are fine with blacks but every one that I know either hates or at least dislikes them.

I never have been able to understand the source of the asian-black hate. Any ideas? Is it like some kind of caste system perception?
