Newegg.com has started offering a very Woot-like special on it's front page. They call it a "Shell Shocker" and so far it seems it's just one extremely discounted item a day until it runs out.
Just thought I'd drop a quick post about it so other thrifty folks like myself can go there and check it out each day along with Woot! and Woot! Sellout over ang Yahoo Shopping.
Today's special is a computer gaming headset from Plantronics. Has a mic mute and volume on the cord, plugs into a 3.5 jack, not a stupid USB which is nicer in my opinion. It's like $6, free shipping.

So far I think it's been electronic items under $50, a lot of the ones I saw under $20. Nice stocking stuffer items, I hope Newegg keeps this up after the holidays.

They have actually been doing this for quite a while, but it was previously tied to NewEgg's daily email circular and not as easy to find on the website.
However, the "Shell Shockers" have been a lot better as we get closer to Christmas. In the past there were discounts on higher priced specialty items, and although they were good deals, not everybody would be in the market for it. The stuff that has been on recently has been lower in price and more utilitarian (which is great).

You've just been looking for an excuse to use the word utilitarian for days, haven't you?

Newegg rules. I picked up Vista Ultimate, full version for $209 with a couple other items. That is an unbelievable deal and I am quite happy. I once ordered from them on a Friday night and the order shipped in 30 minutes. How the did it, I don't know, but they rock.

Newegg is the fucking bomb. They have a location in Edison, NJ so if your merch happens to be there, it gets shipped out same day before whatever afternoon cut off they have and you have things next day or 2nd day at ground rate.
They are the fucking best.

I'll ususally check Ecost, Tiger Direct, Newegg and Woot's various sites everyday.
Newegg is the superior site hands down. Great prices, nice selection, fast shipping that is reasonably priced.
Newegg FTW.

Meh. My brother just had some shady experiences with them when trying to buy a TV.

I absolutely love Newegg. I used to use Geeks.com a lot, but they're iffy. They have some great deals on closeout stuff, but I'd say nearly 50% of the stuff I've gotten from them had something wrong. On the bright side, even though there are problems, they are VERY good at replacing stuff quickly. In one instance, I bought a computer case that came damaged. Not only did they ship me a new one 2 days later, but instead of shipping the broke one back, he said I could just throw it away. I didn't, of course. It was still useable.

Since they do a mail order business, it's probably an unmarked warehouse in the middle of some business area of Edison. I'll look on my next box tag from them. I want to go there and drop off a fruit basket or something to show my appreciation for how fucking awesome they and their merchandise is.

Today's shell shocker is a Blu-ray drive for $80. If I hadn't already spent so much on Christmas this year, I'd probably pick one up.
