Does anyone know a good FLAC encoder/decoder for Mac? I want to start archiving some of my music and the only Lossless files that iTunes can create are ALAC. Also, when I upload files for my iPod they automatically go into my iTunes folder, so I'd like a separate encoder for ripping/encoding stuff that I don't want on my iPod.

Any suggestions?

Look here:

http://flac.sourceforge.net/documentation_tasks.html

Go down a bit to see what players are available for Macs. ITunes does not support FLAC at all.

If you don't want your files added to your itunes folder go to your preferences and de-select the auto add to itunes library option.

Check if songbird supports flac....I know it supports playback.
