Do you like your fries golden or well done? I kind of like them well done.

Also, where do you get the best fries you ever had?

Golden, but I do enjoy when one or two well-done ones sneak their way in. Favorites are from here: http://www.roadfood.com/photos/1671.jpg

Crispy, well done fries are vile.

Whoever likes their fries crunchy also likes their steaks well done so they taste like shoe leather.

Fucking creeps.

Could you be any more hurtful?

Ordering a steak more done than "Medium Rare" is a mortal sin.

famous daves has the best fries. i don't even know if they can be considered regular fries cause they are more like wedges. but they are best when crispy on the outside & nice & soft on the inside.

http://forkyou.files.wordpress.com/2008/07/famous-dave-fries.jpg

as for regular fries i like them regular. not well done or rare. & fries belong with ketchup. dipped in. not slathered all over making a mess.

& i like my steaks medium rare.

Well done; I don't like it when my fast food fries taste like potatoes. Home fries can be golden.

There is a diner not too far from here that makes the best fries. They may be fresh cut.
I like fries with brown gravy. Awesome.

I like mine more on the golden side, although this really isn't an either/or question like frosting on a browning; there's a whole world of middle ground. Perhaps we could develop a ranking system for crispiness much like the Mohs Scale (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mohs_scale_of_mineral_hardness) for mineral hardness.

I debated adding options because I know there are several variations on how they could be made. But in general I prefer slight burning with some foods.

Best Fries: Bouchon at the Venitian (Thomas Keller's)

I have never had better fries in my life. They are double-fried in peanut oil... sea salt.. unreal... I will never go to Vegas again without going to Bouchon while I am there.

It's gotta be golden brown with a little mushy potato on the inside.

ANYONE can make the fries well done, it's easy. They're usually drier and you get a bunch of those crunchy fries at the bottom that are all brown.

Same with bacon. You gotta slow cook bacon to the point JUST beyond raw where the red meat is easy to bite through and the fat is just golden enough NOT to be stringy in any way. Delicate, delicious bacon.

Sorry, what were we talking about?

I only like slightly soggy fries. Especially from McDonalds. However, has anyone else noticed that McDonalds fries now taste like crap? Well, more crappy than usual.

I like the golden ones that are mushy on the inside without crossing over into soggy. I hate anything soggy and when I eat a french fry, I don't want crunchy, at that point you're just eating a chip.

I like my fries crispy on the outside. Steak fries are all right.

But the greatest fries around are New Jersey Boardwalk Fries. Nothing like a big cup of them fries with the malt vinegar and a good amount of salt. NOM NOM NOM NOM NOM

Anytime I go to Mickey D's I make sure to ask for fresh fries and then I stand there like an asshole and watch them.
