if you had the ability to choose the year you were born when would it be and why?
i would have to say around 1950, because then i would have been able to experience a lot of stuff i am really fascinated by first hand, where as being born in 79 i missed everything. i'm talking about stuff like the moon landing, MLK jr, kennedy assaination, cream, hendrix, though i most likely would have been killed in vietnam i feel like that was the time to be in your young years.

two reasons. punk & rock and roll. im pretty jealous if you were born around that time because you got to experience great music first hand.

thats most of the reason i chose 1950. i would be 18 in 1968 and it seems like those couple years is when it all went down like 66-71. for me anyway

1948. And not cuz i wanna be like Israel.
I just would really have enjoyed being a kid in the 50's, a teen in the 60s, and a youngun in the 70s. Of course, i'd also be 60 now, which wouldnt be nearly as much fun as being 38. So that would suck.

how great would it be to see a young emerging bob dylan with an acoustic guitar, three chords and the truth? the beatles, all of it. and even in different areas i'd get to see bobby orr and the bruins win the cup in 1970, the wayne gretzky's entire career, and like happytypinggirl said, just to grow up in those times i think would be great.

wow all of you pretty much have stayed within our lifetimes
part of me wants to go back to like say the wild west era
and part of me wants to go far into the future, like the year 3000 or 4000 just to see what life would be like then

no interest in the future at all. i would go for a glimpse but no interest in being born there. and without knowing what it would be like it would be hard to pick a year. what if you picked the apocolypse? 12 monkeys? escape from ny? planet of the apes??????
48 is my first choice, but there are tons of other times i would have liked to live. but if you go out of my lifetime, we are going into the WAYBACK machine and hitting up native american times, or back to europe. Maybe in the time of Mozart. I just want to wear those clothes.

i'm not sure i would want to go too far back into the times you could potentially die from strep throat or an ear infection. that would just be silly.

true you never know what it could be like but just as much as it could be those things it could be star wars or star trek
and you dont need to time travel to wear those clothes

its tough to drive in a corset and gown with layers of petticoats and crinolins. plus they dont make a car big enough to fit your wig into. now...if we all start riding horses again.....

I have factored that these are the best years to be born in order to hit the peak of every decade. (Late '60's-cultural revolution, late '70's/early 80's-birth of punk and transition into New Wave and the decadent '80's, early '90's-GenX.)

my parents blew it. got stuck home in a snowstorm a year too late.
but i could really chose i probably woulda said early 1900's. so i could live like they did in the great gatsby. i always wanted to be a flapper.

One of my best friends growing up was born on 7/7/70, so he turned 7 on 7/7/77.

Same year I was born, I loved my childhood, well most of it. The late 70s and 80s were great.

I would probably only back it up 2 or 3 years, because the older kids in high school seemed so much cooler and hipper than I did when I got to be their age.

There's a lot of the last 20 years I'd like to change about myself. Plus, I'd be young enough to be my own son.
