Check out the "best movie ever" thread from a week or so ago.
I loved the film. It's pretty much one of my automatic favorites of all time right now.

Man, what a horrendous
moie. I hated it - it was
terrible? I mean, seriously,
it was so cliche - a wizard
with a pointy hat?? What the
fuck, what a fantasia rip off!!!
And the elves! What's the
deal with the elves! Elves
are supposed to be living
with santa, god fucking
damn! Stop lolly-gagging
and get to work on those
presents!! And what was
with that thing in the water?
20,000 Leagues Under the
Sea ripoff, anyone? And
UGH!!!! "Balrog"?? couldn't
come up with a more
original name, huh? Had to
steal the name of a
STREET FIGHTER II
character?? Did they thing
nobody would notice?
I can't believe everyone
likes this movie, it's the
stupidest fucking ripoff ever
- it makes puffy look
innovative!

I commented about it in the Gratest movie thread and having time to think about it I like it better than I did after first seeing it. Visually spectacular, well made and just amazing to see. As for best movie ever/best movie of the year, I don't think so but it's definitely worth the money to see it.

TooCute, I know that you're joking, but I actually saw a review on a website (posted by an ordinary schmoe) in which the author of the review declared, with a straight face, that LOTR ripped off many other action films, including the Indiana Jones flicks as well as Blade Runner (!).
Never mind the fact that the source material predated every movie he listed by decades.

After more than 500 movies I suspect I can say with credibility that any of the imagery of evil you have seen before now does not match the evil in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. This might be one of the coolest sentences to describe something I've ever heard.

I thought it was a good movie. It was a fast 3 hours, and had some great special effects.

Elijah Wood now joins the ranks of Prince, Joe Pesci, Kerry Strug, Spike Lee, Jason Alexander as one of the Little Assholes.
Just Joking. I've not seen the movie as of yet.

I thought that LOR was
incredible. Once it got
going, it really didn't seem
like it was 3 hours long. It is
going to be hell waiting for
the next movie.
