it's not worth the side effects...i.e. medicine mouth, sleep walking, feeling drowsy in the morning, and not to mention how it stops working after a week of taking it.

I didn't like the daze I was in the next morning, and I really didn't like the somewhat hallucinations I had when waking up mid-"sleep" during the night. I now take this from time to time:

when my wife had her C-section, they gave her Morphine and Ambien.

that was the worst fucking night of my life...it literally made her think that I had left her and she woke up about 20 times screaming my name and trying to get out of bed to go find me.....

needless to say, that night plus the next 4 I had ZERO sleep....

FUCK Ambien....

I take controlled release Ambien, and I'm pretty sure that after a year or so, it does nothing for my sleep except to have a placebo effect. If I stop for a few nights, then take it again, it does work.
However, since I started taking it I talk ALL night in my sleep. I also get up and eat and email, without much recollection the next day. Not comforting at all.
Unisom worked really good for me when I was pregnant. It has a different sleep aid than tylenol pm.
Lunesta did nadda for me.
Insomnia sucks. good luck.

I'm not a regular taker of it, but I always pop one when I'm about to fly due to my fear of flying. Works like a charm, especially if I take just half a pill, and have no trouble waking up.

What you need is natural sleep. Chew on valerian root and get some exercise. If that doesn't work try going to some self help groups to see what pain is really like.

Then make soap, form an anarchy group, and blow up a few buildings to change everyones credit.

In all honesty I'd try a 5-HTP supplement.

I won't take ambien to come down ever again. Tried it once and slept until 11, had to be at work by 7. This was 10 years ago of course

No trouble waking up although I get "really weird and scary" on it according to sarah. I will say that I tend to not remember what happened right before bed when I take one.

I don't feel drowsy at all when I take it but drowsy as fuck the next day when I tried lorazapam and mertazopeme. Guess it depends on the person. For me, ambien is the least influential on me which is why I stick to it.

I know you wanna sound like a tough guy Chris but I didn't sleep more than 2 hours a night for 36 days three years ago... I wish like hell I had some ambien then. Not worth the pain of not sleeping. Ya got side effects wit the pill, dont like the price, fine, dont take it. Don't make ya a bad person either way.

Fantastic. That's my take. I've never felt better about going to sleep after not being able to.

I'm sure it hooks you pretty good though. I only took it twice - years apart.

On a more serious note. I would suggest weed for sleep help. It's natural, I am not really into chemicals for treating medical ailments. Sure if I need to take it I do but I usually try to go as natural as possible. Other natural methods like Melatonin can help produce natural sleep. Valerian root is somthing some people drink in tea, elixor or root form it not too unpleasant and can be found in a lot of health food stores.

Weed is also good for sleep and has the added benefit of being a pain reliever and a stress reliever. I know the obvious jokes can be put here, and that getting high is a nice side effect, but I also believe in the greatness of pot. I smoke it everyday, and I feel that it is not just a toy but a very strong effective medicine.
