Not for me- for my wife. Now I am coming to work late after I get the kids on the bus, leaving work early to pick the kids up from the bus and burning through vacation days keeping my sick son home from school. Are they gonna pick up the tab for my vaca days? Cause at this rate its looking like I'll be working on Christmas. :wallbash:
Frustrated.

Rikers Island Corection officers circa 1978-86 badge #361 don't do jury duty.

Its her civic duty and you should be happy to help out for the sake of the system and the country blah, blah, blah. It really does suck that they can impose on productive people without compensation.

I was supposed to be calling in for jury duty last week, then we had our baby on Monday and I forgot to call in. Completely forgot about it until just now.
Ooops.
I guess I'll have to go on the lam.

i hate fucking jury duty. in dc, you get called like clockwork every 2 years... i've been on a case that lasted 6 weeks and another that was a hung jury after 3. total nightmares. on the 6 week one, when we first went into the jury room, this one woman slammed her stuff down and declared "i don't convict nobody of nothing!"...

I'm a victim of a violent crime, which will pretty much get me off any jury duty :D

dude - i want to tell stories like that and there are always tons of people who indicate each scenario the judge brings up is related to them. but then i get there and i can't lie...

I liked Jury Duty....
it annoyed me when Pauly Shore tried to start a new call...from the Weasel to the Peanut. Horrible.

Spent 8-5 today in Jury Duty along with about 250 other people. They didn't call one single juror all day. Damn lawyers and their 'court house steps' deals. I was really hoping to get in on a serious trial.
I also found out that 90% of cases in this country end in a plea deal. The booklet they gave us explaining the jury selection process explained that we were doing a great service even if we didn't get picked because our mere presence likely contributed to a plea deal being struck. A little exaggerated probably but I found it interesting that the city government would admit that saving money by avoiding a trial is more important to them than an accused person getting a full and fair trial.

was picked to serve a case today for jury duty - 5 times out of 14 years - fucking sucks!!! This is a serious factor in my wife's bid for us to move to Bethesda, MD... There's something to be said about being convicted for a felony...

i finally got called for jury duty last week after years of living in different places in the NY/NJ area. my job pays for the days i was there and i didn't have to use vacation days, which was nice.....so i wasn't too worried about getting picked to be on an actual case. i was called twice and only once made it into the jury box. However, the case i was in the box for was a civil case which i immediately had issues with. the judge explained that the plaintiffs were requesting monetary compensation for permanent injuries related to a car crash which the defendant already admitted fault for. so heres this 20 something year old jewish kid, the defendant sitting in court......and where were the plaintiffs requested compensation for injuries? oh they weren't there.....they were at work. oh really? hurt enough to request $, but still able to work huh? i found that fishy.....so i brought it up when my number was called and the lawyers and the judge and i had the side bar thing where they go over the questions.
sure enough, right after lunch during the dismissal process i was the first number called for removal from the jury selection. also, it helps that my apartment was robbed once, that i had a friend in high school who was involved in a major car accident which rewarded him a large sum of money, and that i have lots of police that serve in the town in which i was serving jury duty.

Day 4 of grand jury duty. Only 16 more to go!
Good news: wireless in the jury room and a very cute blond in the row behind me.
Bad news: people with cell phones who make personal calls in the jury room for all of us to hear. Lady, I don't really care that your toilet needs to be cleaned.
