Jim Fassel has stepped up his campaign to become an NFL head coach again in the most interesting of ways.

A team source tells ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen that Fassel recently sent a handwritten letter to Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis, expressing his respect and admiration for Davis and his desire to coach the embattled franchise.

One of his kids is already an assistant out in Oakland & he has had a relationship with Al Davis for years. I guess he has himself fooled into thinking Davis will respect him as coach & leave him alone & let him do his job. It will be sad to see him embarrassed by mid season next year but when he gets fired 5 games into a three year contract, at least he'll pick up a nice chunk of change.

A few things tell me Fassel's been blacklisted. Wasn't one of the reasons he was fired from the Giants job was because he showed up to an important Mara charity thing shitfaced drunk?

but i dont find it odd that no one has given this guy a shot

i thought the cardinals were gonna give him the job a few years back
