Can't connect to the internet

Last night our tenant asked to use the laptop. He couldn't get on to the internet. I'm usually on the desktop. When RnF are over I shut off the desktop and got to the lap top. I'm getting the same thing. Help?

if this is windows XP, go to the start button, type CMD into the RUN console and press enter
when the back screen opens, type IPCONFIG / ALL and see if you get an IP address that starts with 192 or 172

check the routers physical cables. unplug and plug back in the power. depending on how old your router it, it may have shit the bed

We got the Fios in April. The TV and phone are working fine. Turned the router off for a few and then back on. I'll see in a few.

Are you able to see the wireless network at all? Can you see it but not connect?

It's working now. After we turned the router off and on, I tried to soon to get on. Thanks for all your help guys!:drunk:

this happens to me every once in a while. after a few hours i can connect again. restarting the router doesnt help. the computer that is plugsed in to the router still works, but the other computers see the network, they just cant connect to it
