i always loved tuna, but tuna with celery in it was sooooo gross for me for many years

While I don't mind tuna with celery in it, I hate tuna with pickle chunks. However, I do love the dill flavor with tuna that a good dill pickle will bring, so for years I made tuna salad using dried dill.

(If you like the flavor of celery in your tuna, but hate the chunks, just get celery seed instead. Same flavor, no chunks ... win-win!)
