I found this program that does the same as GoToMyPC, and it's free.

Using it now to control my main PC from my laptop, and it's working real well.

I suppose the connection is a lot better since they're on the same network, I would be interested in seeing how it works over a true internet connection.

If you are only looking to control a computer on the same network you can use windows remote desktop connection (assuming you are using windows). It is easy to configure and comes built into windows.

Actually, it seems a lot more like LogMeIn Recue or WebEx. Somebody has to be on the other end and install the software, then enter the appropriate codes and allow the connection.

I'm definitely going to check this out though. We use LMIR at work but only have one user account; a free alternative would be cool.

My brother and I bought my elderly parents a PC, and ever since i have received calls with questions such as "where is the start button" "how do i send an email" and "why cant i see the rest of this page" which i reply, because you have to scroll down, and Mom has no idea how to do that. Its truly painful. And when i told her to click on "my computer" she replied.."how can i click on your computer from here???

I need to be able to access her computer from my apt. But not JUST ACCESS TO the files etc..i have to see the screen as if i was in her living room. So she will see me move her mouse (Verizon did that when i called for help once, he saw my desktop and computer as if he was in my apt instead of India.

Which program will do that?
