View Full Version : My Dad Crashed My Car

He's ok but my car is totaled. He was rear ended and crashed into the SUV in front of him just 2 blocks from the house. I'm glad he's ok but man it sucks. The good news is the lady that hit him from behind admitted full fault. My car will be in Brookhaven tomorrow to access the damage but it doesn't look good. I took the plates off and am currently looking for used cars while I drive around in a rental. Oh well, I was getting tired of that car anyway  I had to laugh at the irony; getting a call from dad telling his daughter he crashed her car..

So this thread should be "Lady Crashed My Car".

hopefully her insurance will pay you full value, you may be able to get a decent deal for a new car even at a dealership.
Glad your dad is ok though.

Could you explain how one accesses the damage on a car?

Yes, yes you are.
Back on topic...so sorry RB! I've been on both end of crashes and it sucks if it's your fault or not. I'm sure he feels terrible. Sorry you have to deal with that headache!

you should "clean up" his room and "accidentally" find his stash

you should closely monitor whomever he dates and generally drive them away for fear of having to put up with you by proxy

Hey, thanks everyone
I'm still just glad my dad's ok and I think he may feel a little bad even though it was not his fault. He was actually driving back from getting brake fluid and some other stuff for my car, so he was doing me a favor cause sometimes he can be nice like that
Once I hear back from my insurance I'll be able to call the other lady's insurance (i don't know, i've never done this before) She's been very cooperative and soo apologetic to my dad.
I guess I don't feel so bad because it's an 11 yr old car and I was going to get as much use out of it while it was still running well.

Yay! Good News..
My car was deemed a total loss (as expected). I'm going to the claims office and will be getting $4,084.30. Since the other lady accepted full liability, I won't have to pay my deductible.
Now the search for a car. My mom offered to help, so between her, the insurance money and some of my savings, I will be able to afford a decent car without having to endure hardship. I wasn't expecting my parents to help but am sooo grateful that they can. I'm a very lucky gal!

Rose's dad was pretty rough on his cars in his youth. We should have seen this coming:

Hahha KHB.. I wish! But I'd feel bad using them.
Actually it's my mom who's offering to help because she know's I try.
My dad is good to me but he's no softie.
My car was a Corolla; excellent excellent car! So long as I took care of it, that car gave me little to no headaches. I'm sure I could've gotten a couple more good years out of it but c'est la vie! I'll miss it

One time my dad stood in the door of the Metro and wouldn't let the doors close. They had to unload the entire train and wait for a new one. I was pissed. But it wasn't his fault, it was crowded and people were pushing him.
Ok, that didn't happen, I'm just trying to relate.
Anyway, glad your pops is ok. I would go for an old Trans Am, but that's just me.

Thanks! Dubble Wubbly goods news. I went shopping for a new Corolla cause I was so happy with my old one and liked the new ones but my parents decided to get a new fully loaded Prius and I'm getting mom's 2005 Prius which is in great shape. I think she said she's also going to give me the $5,000 she would have given me towards a new Corolla but I'm not sure and I'm not asking cause either way, I'm happy! This is the best Birthday/Christmas present I could have gotten! I'm sorry If I'm gloating but I realize how lucky I am. My parents are lucky too, they have me for a daughter  AND they are going to Italy next year..Yays!!!

No clue, and my dad is still wondering. I think she probably just spaced out or was looking through her glove compartment or something. She just apologized over and over to my father.
