OK, I have no idea who the guy was or why / how he was a fixture to Chi town, but I just always wanted to do one of those this person is dead threads.

He wrote some "social sciences" type books, "Working" is a great one, Studs pretty much just interviews a shitload of diverse people about their jobs, pretty much everything from welders to hockey players to hookers, etc. It's a great read & usually available for about 75 cents in any thrift store anywhere.

Just two amazing oral histories of every type of person who lived through those times, which I feel are some of the most important in the history of the world. I can't reccommend those books highly enough
